I think if you have a great talent you should be able to choose to go to school to further that talent into something more. All you really need to do in school is learn the basics, like grammar and spelling and algebra, and make science and history elective classes.
I am a failing student at school and the only classes I am passing are both of my Band Classes, and by passing I am making A's. All of my other classes Geometry, English IV, American Govt., American History(3rd time taking it). To me, these classes offer me nothing that would help me with what I want to do later in life. I want to become a professional musician, and having what I think are pretty much useless classes is not helping me to achieve my goal.
Yet, I know the only way to get to what I want, I have to pass the classes that I find most boring. It's not that I am making good grades and making moderately worse grades, it's that I am making bad grades and I am not motivated to get my grades higher. I don't even know if the G.E.D is an option at this point, as I am not sure if my music schools would even want people that take that test.
I've already taken the SAT, and have gotten a slightly above average score (1060). I recently tried out for the Orange County Public School's Honor band program and made 8th out 18 chairs. I only read the prepared piece the day before the audition. I could of made a higher chair if I had started reading the music sooner. It sickens me that I may not be going to college based on useless test scores, instead of going because I have great talent.
Wow, I should print this and submit it as an essay :p

I can still edit my signature. Yup, as it is now the 30th day of May in the year of 2010.
