I'm more worried about how they know the reason that he did it.

If he told people that he was considering killing people because he got "crap" grades then I'm sure they laughed at him, and that that was a bigger contributor. Also, if he told people and they took him seriously then they're not really friends if they didn't try to help him, or at least told someone.

If he wrote a suicide note then that's really stupid. Stupid that the family told I mean. I obviously can't speak for everyone but ****ing hell, I wouldn't want the reason my kid killed himself being released to the press. It just seems insensitive to me.

And if he like... told someone just before he done it... I laugh:

QUOTE
Person: "Why are you doing this!? Stop!"

Suicide: "M... My g-grades in school are lacking... I can't l-live with mys-self."

Person: "We can s-- *BANG*"

It just seems like a pathetic reason to kill yourself. I'd at least make up a reason so that my death didn't seem entirely ungrateful... I mean some kids would kill (not themselves duh) for B/C grades.

I tried to keep that I hate suiciders out of this topic but failed. Oh well. I still find it worrying that the press know the details.

My older cousin (by about 5 years) shot himself in the head (no one knows his reasons) and his mom found him right as he died. she almost killed herself too, (if it hadn't been for the helpful comfort of me and my parents. It was really wierd. Whenever me and her talked she'd call me a good kid and a good son and stuff. Poor Auntie. sad.gif

I think if you have a great talent you should be able to choose to go to school to further that talent into something more. All you really need to do in school is learn the basics, like grammar and spelling and algebra, and make science and history elective classes.

The only problem with that is if we did that, basically nobody would take history or math or science classes and we'd be a country full of people who didn't know any of that.

QUOTE (Marth @ Dec 12 2006, 04:06 PM)
so i just saw on the news how a kid who was an eagle scout, strate A student and volunteer fireman went and shot himself. why? because he got B's and C's the past 2 school quarters was it really worth it? NO! so discuss and tell me what you think on this topic

Do you have a link to some credible news site? I find it hard to discuss when you haven't offered anything concrete.

No. Sweden is best place for kids (or so I've heard).

ON TOPIC: Getting bad grades is not a good reason to do a suicide. Two years ago I went to high school to study physics. First course went well (8/10) while other two didn't (5/10; 6/10). And what did I do? I never went to that school since then.

I wish I could get a decent score in the SATs.

It's extremely difficult, in my opinion, and having to study is a pain in the ass. Also, I have MANY OTHER things to do now (Like learn to drive, be more responisible/independent, etc.). Even with all this adult transitioning stuff going on, I don't even consider thinking about killing myself. smile.gif

I second that.
Also, kids with things like Autism and such should be allowed to go to school with "normal" kids, instead of being stuck with incompetent teachers who can't tell a good lesson from their asshole.

Too bad they would be a huge distraction for the other kids and the child with autism would fail repeadedly
