Judging from the original trailers, I think it was pretty obvious the game was going to be alot darker than it is now. The graphics were more realistic and darker (As opposed to the brighter colored overworld we have now, the colors were a combination of green and brown), the ghosts in the well were ALOT freakier, there were some areas not seen in the game that seemed to have a darker mood than most areas in the game, etc. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the game's original intentions were for it to be darker, but Iwata didn't like it and changed it, this was around the time where this game was supposed to be Wind Waker's prequel and was "supposed" to end with Hyrule flooding. Personally I'm a little dissapointed, I expected a MUCH darker game, no senseless blood or gore or anything like that, just for the story to be a bit more dark and moodier. I hope the next Zelda does this, but I really doubt this with Nintendo's new focus on making the gameplay perfect rather than making the storyline and such great too. I hope to be proven wrong though.
