3 years ago i capitalized and used punctuation constantly

if you search through my older posts you can see that

but now i don't because it's a message board--not real life--and no one really cares except for those who are anal about it for some reason

EDIT: + i cud alwaiz tawk liek dis if u wnt me 2

yeah me too. well... i still puntuationify. and i can spell. so, big deal i don't capitalize. :/ it's like, if you can't tell we're intelligent people anyway, then you're the one not worth talking to, amirite?

plus, the administration needs to be more anal. they're way too lax. idiots shouldn't even get more than one warning for sheer, genuine idiocy. i mean, i've done stupid things. but... just... acting like a retard and being all hateful and trolly and rawr in general is not something we want here. so yeah. it should all just be done away with in one fell swoop, if you ask me.

i like mfgg.. because it used to be a fairly closenit community, and though there are always new members (some pretty awesome ones like raie too, i must admit) i always see people i recognize here and there and everywhere. but it's getting filled to the brim with anal tardo's like a pot o' stew, and eventually, when it's just too damn full, it'll all boil over: in other words, most everyone- even the better members- will leave this place... a wasteland, a forum that will eventually just get up and deleted and only few will remember.

we take this stuff way too seriously.
i mean it's just a forum fasdfasdfkohj have you ever noticed the irony

Actually, the test should have simple rule-based questions to simply require the reader to READ the rules, since some people fail to read them. Multi-choice/Checkbutton Questions like "Porn is not allowed in this forum. What would happen if you violate this rule? (d. warning, then a ban)", "The following kinds of topics are acceptable EXCEPT (b. requesting warez)", "What shouldn't you do if you get in a dispute with another member? (a. Make a derogatory topic in the PPP made to insult other member)", "Which of the following is common sense?" and other quesitons like that. :O

well, those are all questions that are even less than common sense, that'd just waste the admins' energy and time. i hate Q&A's even on tests with obvious answers like that.

You know what would be hilarious? If there was a test and then at the bottom it said "If you agree with these rules click "I Disagree"

I bet every single person would click agree biggrin.gif

I really don't think we need to have any kind of entrance test though, that strikes me as being a little pretentious. Not every new member is some kind of idiot who needs to put up with something like that and I think if I joined a forum with some massive questionnaire to fill out before I started posting I'd be turned off from posting there.

I wish some new people would lurk a little more though.

Overall I think we just need to chill out a little, lately MFGG has been the very definition of "Internet: Serious Business". It's just supposed to be a fun little somewhat Mario-related community. I am trying really hard to get the place under control and fix the problems people are complaining about, it can be frustrating sometimes.

I'm hoping that when the PPP re-opens we can have a fresh start and put the past behind us, and get things back on track.

Over the months I've been here I haven't seen too many insults or people being rude/mean to each other. Maybe that's because I have nothing to compare this year to.

You know what, that's it. After reading each post in this topic since I last saw it, I am now going to attempt to be much more friendlier, nicer and less sarcastic than I am now. I know some of you will be like "right, okay, you do that, see your bad-ass self in 2 days," but seeing as I was that way originally, and unfortunately followed the rude attitudes of members after 2003-2004, I could most likely revert back to the old friendly me with no prob. Only this time I won't act so damn n00bish.

Now, who's with me? Who wants to make this place a friendlier, more respectful and great community of Mario fangamers?

That's exactly how you do it: keep your opinions inside. I'm sure with every member, half the opinions they express won't really affect their daily lives at all (with the exception, which usually falls on the negative side of being angry with another member), and probably didn't even need to be expressed and simply ignored.

And also being friendly about people, if they're being idiots or don't get something, there's no point in getting fiercly angry and loading on sarcasm and flames upon them, that's definitely not going to help at all. We need to learn to be more patient and calm, and explain things the best you can.

And if it gets to a point where you can't control your feelings well enough: just go away. There's no reason for getting yourself angry over a silly little argument.

But what if you're criticizing art?

Oh, about art?

Then make sure it's criticism. Not like the following:

"Check it out, I made this picture of a crab."
"wtf that crab looks more like a duck"
"Okay, but how?
"i dunno but this picture sux"
"Why?"
"cuz it does"

Give reasons why you say something needs improvement on the picture. Nothing wrong with criticism, it helps improve (unless you constantly criticize, then you just make them feel bad) their skill. But if you don't say WHAT or HOW something needs to be improved on and why, then that's not going to help.

When I do that I just try to word it in such a way that it won't offend the other person. You shouldn't feel bad about it and if the other person takes it the wrong way they're being too sensitive about it.

I also try to tell them the stuff I like about the pic.

Basically if there's something wrong with the pic, as long as you don't just say THAT SUCKS YOU MUST BE JOKING LOL and actually give reasons why you think the way you do, it's not being a jerk.

People who have nothing more to say than "it sucks" or something similar, shouldn't post anything at all.

In my opinion, it seems that a few people on this forum act very (sensitive or quarrelous or anything trigger-finger like) for the smallest things; we can't even laugh disputes out anymore because one arguer is so content on making his/her points overshadow the other. It's like a pointlessly endless dilemma where two guys keep arguing to "who will settle with the hottest chick" tonight (Odd analogy but you get the point). sad.gif

If the problem continues to get worse, then I don't know what will happen. :/ Iron curtain of MFGG maybe.

Troubled individuals seem to forget that MFGG wasn't the place to expel their hate towards others (go to LiveJournal.com); This was originally a place to discuss Mario Fangames. But thanks to the free-spirited nature in all of us, we MFGGers became a spotlight for many other people because we made it transform into a form of entertainment (Made skins, humorous topics and stickys, even a forum devoted to randomness) than a place to discuss Fangames. Our creative minds made the MFGG forums what we wanted it to be. It became our own group theatre; a theatre that thrives, changes and one that anyone can alter for the sake of entertaining others.

I think some admins have potential to fix this dilemma, but haven't been expelling it to their fullest. Although all the admins are trying their best to stop this, I believe some admins are capable of turning this problem upside down. Klobber is a great guy, who likes to glow a light of cheer onto anyone's faces (Like blissey from pokemanss) and he has created a number of awesome topics (Blaine the Train, Nega Leviatian, Klobber likes Little boys), but from what I have seen this year, Klobber has been a bit absentminded with events (No offense). Klobber needs to make awesome topics again so troubled individuals will participate in those topics and cheer up.

People need to chill. Let's make MFGG awesome again so nobody will discuss how "year 2004/2002/2003 was better" again. nod.gif

If anything I'm to blame for the chaoticness (see: badness) of a lot of them, particularly April Fools (I had a bout with pneumonia a few days prior and had to scrape together something at the last minute).
