Well you guys pretty much layed them all down:
- Prolongs the game, usually with just the reinforced players in the game - Often these respawns amount to completely altering that particular game's power struggle, it doesn't matter what you're doing, if you have two lives left and you're not near the objective, most every map (and yes, in particular our favorite Lunar Base) will put you right where you need to be, and within 6 seconds of a primary frag to the spine, which, due to knockdown and not so much a killing blow; is guaranteed to stop any generator hacking. - As far as the life thing goes; definitely a Jedi balance issue, any decent soldier with -one- grenade can **** up and kill a decent jedi. Even when crouching to absorb damage this is like 25% of Jedi health, and since most people don't duck through the explosions to absorb the damage, they'll fall down, and be shot and killed (see Mugen's grenade/sniper trick). Beyond that, it takes a jedi one swing from just about any stance to kill the soldier; but this requires being close to them, and a smart soldier knows he can just walk backwards, and never be worried until that jedi is right on him, then just before the saber is within range, out goes the grenade; if you die, no problem, you respawn and finish the job, you do get three tries after all. - The reinforcement cheapness is not limited to the soldiers either, Clonetroopers and other reinforcement enabled classes are probably even more gamebreaking, especially considering how much more easily these classes can destroy mission objectives with their rapid fire weapons.
The thing about it is that the only arguments for reinforcements are that player models are forced in MBII mode, so you can't play your favorite Battle Droid without being doomed to being a one life wonder, and while you have access to an E11 and a pistol, this is for the most part all the class has going for it. And as I'm sure you noticed, the choice of having three lives is the only thing the class has going for it. It is predominately a support class, which cannot stand well on its own against anyone that knows how to play; and that is why I say it has no place in any MBII game, not just our private servers, because I've seen 32 player games come down (round after round after round) to six or seven people, vs. one soldier playing possum with a grenade until the timer runs out or they finally find his stupid ass.
Tonight would be cool to play though; maybe
