Joey Regime Propaganda

First of all, yes. That is Joey. I realize that drawing someone besides myself who also posts at this board would place that in the category of "General Friendliness", but I don't want it to be categorized like that. I didn't do this piece because of a request, I didn't do it because of my friendship with Joey, I just did it because I wanted to create something that looked like real wartime propaganda, and improve on one of my own drawings that Joey turned into a spray. This is more focused on the idea, not the fact that I drew Joey. So please don't move it into that god-forsaken forum.

Doesn't scream WAR TIME

Not very wartimey but I guess I can see this up on a nazi castle.

It's propaganda. Propaganda is used in war-time. It's not asking anyone to enlist, but the fact that it's propaganda implies war or a recent takeover.

I think you should distinguish Joey from the bird thing, unless it's like, symbolic or something as it is. I also think it lacks a bit of emphasis on something, maybe the OBEY message or something, or it could be the expression he has, which looks a little emotionless. He should look a bit more "commanding".

The fact that he's melded with the bird was intentional, and it's also impossible to distinguish them because of the limited colors I used. Also, the picture implies that Joey is not just a leader, but almost a messiah figure, so I didn't want to give him a menacing or threatening look, but more of a stoic appearance.


I'm sorry for shooting everything you guys are saying down, I'm just proud goddammit. :| Forgive me.

It is a nice drawing. I like the effects and colours. I like obey also because it reminds me of something in an art class.

Anyways, the fingers seem to go way too far in on the left hand. Like he'd been sliced from inbetween his fingers and now has longer fingers. The arms are also too long...

I like the juxtaposition between the birds and the quite obvious message, "OBEY." While one can take the birds to represent freedom, that's a lot less "in your face" than the very white demand of oppression (and the hand). Even less subtle is the fact that the bird is almost one with the character-- Which, by the way, is the wonder of using only two major colors.
