My friend gave me a "broken" gamecube today. As far as I can tell, everything works fine except the thingy that spins the disc. When I put a disc in, I hear a quite audible squeaking noise, and the disc barely spins in the drive, if at all. It seems to me that the thing is just dirty, and needs a good cleaning. How do I go about this procedure?

If I could afford to do so, I would. The warranty is far expired by now (He got this thing back when Gamecubes were new).

Besides, If I had the money, I'd fork over the 35 dollars to buy one at this used games store in the neighborhood.

That's basically what I'm wanting to do. I don't know how I would though.

I went to the website after watching that, and discovered that I would need a special screwdriver. sad.gif

They sell the screwdrivers that can open Gamecubes most places where they sell Gamecube modchips, if you want to get one. They're fairly cheap. You could also melt the end of a Bic pen and let it harden sitting on top of the screw. Seriously =P
