Dear whiners,

GTFO THIS GAME OWNS

This game is truly a trip down memory lane and back, it's a fantastic collection of some of my favorite games ever and is fun to play. There are multiple ways to play it with the Wii controler, but personally I like a more classic arcadish feel so I just use the GameCube controler. Honestly the Wii controls felt gimmicky and tacked on for the hell of it, but since the game allows me to play with a normal controler I'm happy. Not that the Wii controler is bad or anything, but it just doesn't work for Metal Slug. For those complaing about the lack of hitflash, you just suck at the game. "I don't know if I'm hitting the boss or not!" First of all, the majority of bosses have only ONE place you can actually hit, so you're just being an idiot if you can't tell. Second of all, hitflash is still here for some bosses, though I'll admit it's a bit odd that it was taken out. My only complaints are the ugly looking graphics (The graphics look pixelated and ugly on my TV, usually Metal Slug games look beautiful) and the placement of the pause screen on the GameCube controler. What the hell the Z button pause screen. Other than that it's a dream to play and it's been YEARS since I last played a Metal Slug game, I'm happy SNK decided to release all of them on one disk, including the Japan only Metal Slug 6 which was a nice suprise.

For you Metal Slug n00bs out there who haven't experienced the single greatest arcade games (Or atleast greatest games of it's genre for those who want to argue), the games are basically like Contra where there's little to no plot and all you do is sot things. Sounds boring right? Not when there's tons of cool **** you can do in each level with multiple weapons, vehicles and even creatures you can become! For example, in one level of Metal Slug 3 if a zombie kills you instead of dying, you turn into a zombie your self! As a zombie you're really slow and can only use a pistol, but on the brighter side your grenades are replaced with a kill all onscreen enemies attack where you litterly vomit blood all over the screen, killing them all. Another form you can become is a monkey, which increases your jumping ability and is sdamn fun to watch and play as. Weapons and vehicles are fun and awesome to use, weapons range from the average pistol to the zany lazer cannon which shoots lazers, ripping your enemies in half.

Don't forget the lame ass menus with horribly resized sprites. Or the non animated loading screen. Or how the loading screen really screws up the flow of the game. As for hit damage, yes. It needs to be there for first time players. If there's only one spot to hurt like you say, they don't know where it is.

I don't know how they could have ****ed up a collection of Metal Slug, but they did.

Man you can make a big fit out of solders and helicopters, and pictures and a little Metal Slug that slides along.

Like I said, it's more the hit damage and game interupting loading screens that bother me. Do I still play this game? Yes. Would I still buy this game now that I know of these things? Yes. Metal Slug games are worth it, I'm just very disappointed with the presentation.

I agree with the menus, I didnt know what the hell to do when I booted up. Theres no Press Start screen or anything lol. Anyways, how does the loading screen affect the game? It only happens once and thats before a game, not even during stages, So i dont understand how it interrupts the game any. The hit damage thing is annoying, but I dont think its all that neccessary for first time players, as the boss usually can be hurt anyplace you shoot them (Which i believe Thunder was getting at).

Have you played at all? Whenever there's a new area/scene in the later games instead of the transition from the arcade, we get that stupid tank for 5 or 7 seconds and then the transition. I'm probably being picky, but really, the game came out 9 years ago, and now we're adding in loading screens?

I'm a first time player for most Slug games (I only played a one level of MS3 and one level for MS5) and the no hitflash didn't present me any problems. Also, complaining over MENU SCREENS?! HOW DOES THAT EFFECT THE GAME OR GAMEPLAY AT ALL?! Also, the loading times are less than one or two seconds, they hardly stop the action at all. Now Sonic 06's loading screens were terrible, 20 seconds, multiple times in all levels, lame. Metal Slug Anthology, 1 or 2 seconds, rarely happens, doesn't stop the action at all.

I have it for the Wii, and I've beaten 3 games. And the loading screen only does it at the beginning of the game.

It's not that they're long, it's that they stop everything. They look tacked on and I don't understand why a game that didn't have them 7 or 8 years ago has them now.
And it doesn't rarely happen. I played through MS3 today and probably got maybe around 20 of them.

I only got loading screens a few times on 3, and that's since I went on every alternate path I could find, and they only lasted around two seconds tops.

I'm not kidding, everytime there was a new path or the end of a level.

Again, it's not about the loading times.

It's the fact it says loading for half a second? The load times are the only things that would matter in this situation, and they're extremely low, and in some of the games, not even there at all. Try playing any of these on the NeoGeo CD, THEN you can complain.

Just posting this here since it's the most recent Metal Slug topic. Did anyone else notice they changed the art in the credits in Metal Slug X?
