My friend has been trying to form a rock/metal band with me and another friend for a long time now, and just happens to be quite musically talented in that area. He doesn't write anything he is incapable of playing on his guitar, and he's written quite a bit. He's only been playing guitar as long as I have, about two years, fully self taught. It's only a midi, but I think this is still an excellent song, and he loves the idea of promotion, because it gives him a chance to recieve feedback. So, now, enjoy, and C+C as you wish Someday, when we can find a drummer and a bass player, we will have a much higher quality mp3 version of this. That's some good writing there, your friend has some good guitar writing skills there. Good baseline through-out the song as well, gotta love it when the base begins strumming notes out of no-where, it sounds awesome.
As for the "intermission" of the music (as I like to call it), it seems a little long (though I assume this piece has lyrics, and therefore I am unable to really tell when singing is done or not during this time). Also, I know it's for a dramatic break-back-into-rhythm effect at the end of the intermission, but it should still have some kind of build-up, even if you want to make it happen one measure before the sudden explosion of the melody. I suggest perhaps creating a snare roll that starts really soft and immediately increases in intensity for that one measure.
But, overall, very nice. I was beginning to air-drum to the music after a minute, which is a sign that I like it!
EDIT: Now, excuse me, I'm going to listen to it again.

I don't know where the singing would go in that either, but I know it has lyrics. I remember him telling me that he wrote it based on some lyrics our singer wrote.
Honestly, I've never heard our singer sing, but my friend tells me that he usually goes with a psuedo-growl thing that a lot of metalcore vocalists use. You know, it's similar, but not quite as evil or intense as a "Death Growl." More like distorted screaming.
I don't know how well it will work with the song, but I do know that he wants me and him both doing clean backup vocals.
We both do guitar btw...

wow. i've heard the song. here's the lyrics.
Conformity Kills
------
intro
------
verse what have you done what have you created all those people you've mistreated with the deadly machine, powered by ones poverty each day you feed us lies each day a soldier dies and yet we follow on, not knowing any truth
------
chorus
we've shed blood in your name but we're still caught in the flame of greed and promises of fame another day, another life you say unite, but you really mean die
------
verse 2
take away our power to think for ourselves cause god forbid that we know the truth you tore away our self esteem now we're all just death for hire you've heard the cries for peace but all you did was turn a deaf ear
------
chorus
------
breakdown
time to rise and revolt against the true enemy we were at our inextremis but now we're getting our revenge x2
(improv. part in breakdown) as we pray for redemption, we are deprived of what keeps us sane and makes us who we are....never give in....never conform....stay true to yourself.
------
chorus
------
outro
btw, Applequeso is as good as, if not better, as a guitarist than i am. i usually try to keep his level of playing in mind when i write a new part or start a new song. thanks for all of the comments. we've (me) been writing songs almost nonstop, and it's good to get feedback.

is there a more beautiful spectacle than two psychotic birds going at it?
