Well, as the topic states... are Wii Games region locked, because i wanted to get DBZ:BT2, But it's not releasing over here till march (talk about a release gap cool.gif )

Basically, i want the game for my birthday, which is this month... so...

Yeah, are the games region locked?

Yep. The Virtual Console and GameCube games are region locked on the Wii too... which probably means that we'll not be seeing any previously Japanese-only games in other regions.

But there's a Wii action replay coming out I think, and that might bypass it... I don't know if they still do that anymore.

Wii homebrew is currently not possible. HOWEVER, a simple modchip that will allow you to run backups - even games from other regions - is not only confirmed possible, but the people who made XenoGC are currently creating it!

There are a few things you need to know about importing Wii or Gamecube games at this point.

While the most up to date version of the Freeloader disc for the Gamecube will let you play other region's GCN games inside of your Wii, a Wii import enabler does not yet exist. The primary concern with all the manufacturers of these products, is that because of WiiConnect24, Nintendo can issue a small update to your Wii hardware online, much faster than the disc manufacturers can pump out new code to get around it.
