Now, please no cold shoulder. I have been looking around for one for an hour now, and I have found some good tutorials, but they confuse me. I need help with understanding a tutorial I found on another site. It deals with editing the select.def file. However, it never showed me which part of the file to edit. Help would be appreciated, and don't worry, I have plans for a totally awesome MUGEN game to make, so it won't be wasted, either.

You'll need to open the folder of a character that you know is in the character select and check its filename, which every file in the folder is usually named after. In the select.def file, just run a search for that character to get the selection list. Add your new character right under them

Err, wait, I didn't get that. Do you mean I actually start MUGEN? I was just using notepad. So if I understand correctly, what you're talking about is this sort of text line:

kfm, stages/kfm.def

"kfm" means "Kung Fu Man," he's the default character that came with my download.
