Review of Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess By Glukom (I'll review it the same way you review fangames on the site in a way)
I'll start off by saying that this is definantly a game not to miss, Wii or GC. It has it's ups and downs, but overall, it's a must have.
Story: This game probobly has the most compelling storyline in a Zelda game since OoT and MM. As a boy living in a town, you end up needing to save the world from Twilight. But many characters add to the story, making it as great as it was. My main issue with the story of the game is none other than Midna. Midna was a good character when you started the game. But, slowly, Midna began to overshadow Link. Midna soon became the main character, and Link was the pawn who followed her. In my opinion, Midna lost a lot of the game for me. Also, it never really resolved in the end, it left you hanging. What will happen to Link and Zelda? Is Ganondorf officially dead? Questions like these make you wonder. They also could have left out Ganondorf completely, because he sort of ruined the whole "twilight" theme in the game. Besides these downsides, it seemed to work quite well.
Gameplay: The gameplay in the Game works fine on the Wii, and I assume the controls work for the GC version as well. The system is the same as every 3D Zelda game, so fans of the series should be fine getting used to it. The only thing they could improve was the Wii's sword swinging. You quickly get used to it, but it gets a little annoying after a while.
Graphics: One of the main upsides in this game are the graphics. Everything looks suprisingly realistic, and the worlds you walk around with are absolutely beautiful.
Music: The orchestrated music in the game was great. Every song is easily likable, and the remixed tunes from previous games sound better than ever. Many of you may have noticed in the Wolf songs, that many of the songs are instrument songs from OoT, MM, and WW, which gave you a feeling of the games. Music gets an A+.
Replay: Ehh... Replay value is probobly a no for this game. It is pretty long, and many things you con't do unless you get far, so it could get repetitave. However, for anyone who would want to fight off against the previous bosses, it would work.
My final score for this game is an 8.5. Make sure to pick this game up, you won't be disapointed.

How willingly - They lay their love. How willingly - They sacrifice themselves, To the locust master - to the one that drowned the world. How willingly - They lay their love. How willingly - They sacrifice themselves, To the bringer of hunger - To the one that drowned the world.

hahaha. I think TP should have just been WW on a whole new level. I mean, it's so ridiculously easy. None of the enemies take any skill to defeat. WW had such awesome battle music and TP (especially in twilight) is just some annoying distortion effect. Urgh. Also, why'd they take out the HAY I CAN TAKE UR WEPUN thing that WW had? That could've been improved to such high levels in TP, but oh no. Graphics, meh. TP looked good, was well modelled, but the Twilight area and it's obscene bloom and stupid black squares, well, I found it nothing short of hideous. Combined with the earlier mentioned music and bug hunts (which I found, combined, was worse than the big hunt in WW), everytime I was turned into the wolf, I had an intense desire to not play. What I found especially bad was how they couldn't decide on attempted realism are cartoony-ism, because let's face it, plenty of people look like they are the result of a nuclear holocaust. My biggest complaint are the controls. Fine, some people had no trouble with it, but my peers and I had ... problems. There are several parts where I wanted to shove the Wiimote through my TV and launch my Wii through the window because I accidentally tossed Link to his magma death due to the painful camera, or how I fell for the ninth time because controlling Epona/using sword on the bridge joust WAS PAINFULLY DIFFICULT. And I will have to agree with the story being iffy. Sure, it was okay, but... Spoilers: | WHY was it all about Midna? Link was just the guy that carted her around, defeating all the enemies, but he gets no credit. WHY did they even bother to include Zelda? Two scenes with her and she is gone. And bringing Gannondorf into this? How unneccesary. |
And that is my opinion on the game. I have not enjoyed it much at all, and I really would have preferred a second Wind Waker
