Go! Go! Bacterio!, World 1 Demo: The Throat

I recently decided to make a game based on everyone's favorite virus...

Bacteriophage! That's right, boys and girls: in this game, you'll venture around countless caverns and tunnels of the microscopic, biologic, funkatronic world of the human body, hunting down and destroying bacteria, avoiding antibodies, and keeping up your guard as you go. The game features 100% custom graphics, all by Bacteriophage himself:

Bacteriophage moves toward a bacterium cell (blue) while being chased by an antibody (green).


A moderately hurt Bacteriophage whisks through a tunnel.


Bacteriophage puts the hurt on a bacterium by landing on it!


Despite the subject of Phage's Adventure being science-textbook complicated, the gameplay is actually pretty simple. The object is to advance by destroying all of the blue bacteria by landing on them. That's easy enough, but the situation is shaken up a bit by the presence of green antibodies that follow you if they can see you at all, and hurt you when they get you! Can you survive long enough to clear out the bacteria?

The controls are also simple: UP and DOWN thrust forward and backward, while LEFT and RIGHT turn. SPACE gets through info screens, ESCAPE ends the game, and F4 toggles full-screen. The demo's download link follows. Enjoy!

This is very cool

Wow, awesome. While the controls are awkward, the game is appropriately forgiving; the antibodies hurt you at just the right rate and the walls could be entirely too frustrating if they hurt you at all. In short, don't change what you have so far--only add to it.

Can't wait to see where you take this.

Pretty cool, though I expected some kind of platformer, which would've been awesome.

I thought that MFGG could use a good non-platformer. :/

I like that you've made sure that the antibodies only chase you if they're within your view. Nice little detail, there. Let's see where you'll take this!

Very much like Asteroids. Me likey very much, cannot wait. There's just something about killing microscopic stuff that makes me happy...

Oh, and I'm not sure if this is fixed yet, but winning while touching a greeny makes the sound not stop playing. Minor, but fix it anyways.

Made a new file that fixes that and another graphical glitch involving the antibodies. Enjoy~

This is wonderful. I can't wait for the full game.

The game is a wonderful paradox. It takes an obviously complex grade-school subject, but simplifies it in a strangely and aesthetically pleasing way.

Very nice work.

It's cool, but the fact that you can fly backwards makes it pretty easy.
You should limit the movement to forward, so you have to turn when you want to destroy the bubbles.

But this is just my opinion. Do it as you like, because this really is a cool game.
