If the character's a bit off, the artwork is extremely awesome. I think that's How I wanted Daisy to look...

Is it even worth entering these? Sprite comps are generally fun and balanced, and don't require people to have ultra skill in most cases. Plus they are on a small scale in terms of size, and help to increase spriting skills (if you've watched peoples first sprites compared to the ones now, there's a big difference) but these comps are totally reserved for those who have complete drawing skills, and those don't come from a few drawing comps of practice.

Edit: And by this I mean for someone like me, or the average joe who doesn't have lots of skill in drawing, it doesn't seem even worth the time.

If nothing else they serve as a purpose to draw, as a common cause. For many artists, they lack direction. This gives them the motovation of to show, and a purpose of to why. It will help, just not as well as small-scale drawing.

What's the point? Mine's not good enough to win.

I don't know any artists which like their own art, so seeing other good art just makes it worse. Still, I say keep working on it Sarahsuke, I don't know of anyone that hasn't liked your stuff either.

As for me, I like to have fun drawing and seeing what other people come up with... but you're right about artists dominating the competition aspects. Not sure what can be done about that, short of getting rid of the comp all together.

Maybe we should divide the entries into "computer-drawn" and "hand-drawn"...

I'm not sure where my stuff would fit in, since it's hand-drawn and computer-colored.

I'd like to suggest that people take these things into consideration when voting on a favorite piece of art, but people just like what they see unfortunately, no matter how it's drawn.

Perhaps we could put them into "hand drawn division" "computer-only division" "mixed media devision", have a winner (with a badge) for each, then have an overall winner? It would take longer, but it might be more fair.

I dunno if that's a good idea actually. Equally good pics can come from each.

Maybe, instead of a top 5, just have 5 winners? No 1st-5th dealie, just have 5 winners (or less, depending on the number of entries) whom all get the same badge. That way, if there's a really good piece, it'll get in the winners, and people will be able to consider the other ones...
