This is a simple question about MFGG as it is today, how much do you care when it comes to moderating and adminning this place anymore?

This isn't intended as a flame, it's a serious question based on things i've seen from nearly all admins around the place these days. Klobber has stated that he doesn't like the place much anymore, and even taken to banning himself or leaving when things get rough. RII is here basically out of the sense of duty that comes from keeping it alive. Not even Shadowman posts as much as he once did and certainly not as randomly, and seems to be leaning on the side of the admins which is sick of his job. As for the mods, Fanguy's said he's only here out of a sense of duty as well but along with Jak, doesn't really do a whole lot, and Jeff does a little but doesn't care about the forum itself so he really only does what he wants. And Trasher does too much job sometimes, i'm pretty sure he enjoys it, just not the forum itself.

As for TD, I don't think he's really cared enough for years.

I'm not saying none of you do your job or anything, but i'm fairly certain you don't enjoy it and chances are, ignore a lot just because you're sick of it all. What do you think of MFGG and how it is today?

I haven't seen TD post in ages, but that makes kinda sense.
My honest opinion is that some new, fresh mods would be hired.

Providing people saw a problem with the current system, that wouldn't fix anything I doubt.

Fix, no. Attempt to fix, yes.
With the state the forum currently is in, everything should be tried to make MFGG get back on its feet.

Why's everyone saying this?! I'm telling you, it's great here.

The air is clean. The water's clean. Even the dirt is clean. Bowling scores are way up, mini-golf scores are way down. And we have more excellent water slides than any other forum we communicate with. I'm telling you, this place is great.

Look at it this way; we have our disagreements and such, but this place is hardly a flamepit. I've been to worse forums where flamewars erupted all the time and people were never punished for it, as well as ones that are just plain badly run. Compared to them, this place is brilliant.

All forums have their problems, and I think the admin and mod team here is doing a fine job at the moment...

But I'm worried, MFGG doesn't have a scientific gauge of well being like Nintendo:

Things have been a bit slow lately, and the admins certainly haven't been as active as they were even when I joined. I come here because I still think this is one of the best forums on the net, albeit not quite as fun as it used to be. It has a great memberbase, (with obvious flaws, as is to be expected at any large-ish forum) but the most of the newer members are mind-numblingly slow-witted. There are, of course, exceptions, but MFGG has one of the best groups of members I've been around.

As for admins/moderators, the only I problem I have is with Jak, and only because he never seems to be on. Trasher is strict blah blah blah, we all know, but he's generally on the mark, if a little bit too harsh with actual punishment. I think Jeff is doing a great job, and FanGuy is doing well too, but isn't quite as active as he used to be.

All in all, MFGG needs a small shot in the arm of some sort. I, however, don't know what that shot needs to be. If it is indeed new mods/admins, there are certainly some qualified people on the site that I know would do a pretty good job.

I'm gonna agree with Kritter on this.

The staffs attitude seems like they'd rather be somewhere else at times. In my eyes i feel this may affect some of their decisions. Even though it not so much as their doing a bad job.

I think we have a fine Administration Team, maybe a few mistakes but hey, we're all Human! Only problem I see is, as big and good as it is, there are some instances I know of where there was a flamewar going on somewhere, but no admin or mod logged on, not until 2-3 hours later.

I don't see it vital to MFGG to hire new mods but it would help, and if that was the case, pick someone that is on a lot and would be there when stuff is going on would be a good choice.

In fact some members that aren't on often would be good choices too, It might even give them more reason to be more active.

One example is Kaepora, sure he may be a little pretentious, but if he can overcome that, I think he'd make a great mod. He doesn't show hostility towards new people which is needed. And he is helpful when asked to help in stuff.

I'm sure there are other people that would be fine choices too, but he came to mind first.

I think a new admin might be in order, but it'd have to be someone who's really willing to do it has proven themselves very capable. Otherwise, I don't want a bunch of random new mods.

I'm gonna be honest and admit that a lot of times I just pop in here for a couple minutes a day, look at the reports, take action if needed and then leave. It feels like going through the motions.

It's probably just a phase, and I'm not planning on leaving or anything, but the fact that I had to ban myself for a week because of getting so aggravated with the place is pretty ridiculous.

I'm just tired of the drama that emanates from this place, and the mixed signals I get about what people want. I know it comes with modding the place but it seems like it's worse now than it used to be. Sometimes I ask myself why do I even bother adminning the place anymore? And I honestly can't answer that, but like I said, don't plan on leaving anytime soon. It just seems like a thankless job sometimes, like every decision I make is the wrong one

but I obviously do still care about the place, or I would have left already. So yeah, I still care and I really hope it gets better soon.

I'd say there haven't been enough mods and admins, but instead I'll say there are too many idiots.

Seriously, we should have an IQ test for people who join. And a grammar test, that is key. And a test on the rules.

I'm siding with Dragmire on this, simply because of the fact that at least the admins and mods do a reasonable job at running MFGG. They don't have to be active 24/7 and patrol every post to be great either. In my opinion, they're doing a great job.

Yes, you can pass tests like this and still be an idiot, so we would never implement something like that
