| QUOTE (Press Start @ Feb 19 2007, 07:24 PM) | | I think a new admin might be in order, but it'd have to be someone who's really willing to do it has proven themselves very capable. |
chance of that actually working is slim, ive seen many sites and forums have an admin retire, annouce a new one, and then within a month or two the site is a complete wreck.
for example, when i used to be active over at tSR, Bacon ran the place fairly well, then he decided to leave, put Badassbill in charge, shortly after, things went wrong, but then dazz stepped in and turned things around.

| QUOTE (FanGuy @ Feb 19 2007, 11:53 PM) | | Well... for me, I don't want to just give up on being a mod, nor do I want to leave mfgg. However, at times the "you're right/you're wrong" criticism I get whenever I do something according to my best judgment (which is what I was hired to do, use my own judgment and not anyone else's) gets so overwhelming that I feel like I care less and less about doing mod work because all it does is turn most of the forum against me. The thing I really should do is just ignore what anyone outside the rest of the staff tells me to do, but then I feel like I'm acting too high or something... augh. I mean well, but the public reception of what I do gets to be too much for me to handle sometimes. |
Anyone in authority is going to piss off SOMEONE no matter what decision they make. You do sort of have to trust your instincts (-Peppy Hare, Philosopher). But yeah it's pretty annoying, I am always glad for you and the other mods sticking around in spite of it though, because running the place with only one person would be impossible.

Well it sounds like the failure was a result of bad judgment, and it was fixed by a better new admin choice later anyway. I don't want there to be recklessly added new admins and mods, just one good new admin that could help out the place. And there's a big chance that such a person isn't even her right now, so the team might as well stay the same.

i've watched MFGG since the beginning, through all the good and bad times, and i have to say, as much as people think the forum is going downhill, it's just a influx of members, along time ago, when it was the "Peak" era, there was about 10-15 members on at a time max, and Everyone knew eachother, now theres about 50-80 on at a time, and some people don't know the others, And sure there are some jackass's on the forums and some elitists too, but Maybe they need a bit more warning, and incentive not to be a jerkwad, because if you keep banning people who act REALLY irresponsibly, your basically giving them a slap on the wrists saying, don't do it again, or i'll hit you again. rather than don't do it *Said number of times based upon situation* or Gtfo.
The Mod and Admin staff are doing a Phenomenal job of managing the boards in terms of community size and Personalities, I do see alot of Friendship warns, and de-warns, but that itself is human nature and cannot be avoided.
Basically what i'm saying, is that the forums are really no different from even the EZboard era, it's just that the Oldbies have gotten well, older and some of us just don't realize that alot of the newbs that are joining are just like us when we first started, i mean Honestly, to this day, i have never read the rules to this forum.
