I thought the whole point (or at least part) of the Wii Console number thing was to remove the need for Friend Codes.

This blows.

What's funny is I was probably playing online games way before PokeHero:

Sierra knows how to influence kids into begging for subscriptions. Thankfully my parents had willpower. Nightwing was the next pioneer in our immediate family:

Quake deathmatches with our cousins, whoda thunk it.

Which is probably why I'm much more forgiving about this whole debacle.

Indeed. I suggest we go back to happier times, when MFGG did not exist!

So, can you send friend requests to people you meet in the games?

It's possible, but so is anything at this point really. I'm just completely confused about what's going on.

You have Elebits that uses the global Wii database of generic Wii codes that we otherwise use for messaging, but people have argued that's not "real" online play. But honestly, it's still online interactivity, so shouldn't Nintendo still apply the same amount of bull**** "parental concern" to this title as well?

On the other hand, you have Battle Revolution, which uses separate codes. People are saying that this is because it uses Diamond and Pearl, DS games which do have their own friend codes. But I still don't understand how that makes any sense, especially if the codes you use are different from the DS codes.

In the end it's just an inconvenience, but I still wish they'd recognize the backlash and use their perfectly functional address book.
