How's Ragnarok?, What should I expect?

I'm thinking about downloading and playing Ragnarok. If anyone has any previous experience with it, could you tell me if its good, what to expect, etc? It looks great, but I would like to know some opinions first before I make a decision.

Play a low-rate (1-10x) private server if you are going to play RO

Do not ask for private server links as their legality is arguable

The game itself has roughly the same grinding redundancy as most other MMORPG's

Private server links aren't a problem, that I have covered.

As for the rates, it says 5x/5x/3x. I honestly have no idea what that means, but none of them are above 10, so....

I hate grinding, but I'm able to withstand it if its something new, so I'm not (completely) concerned with that either.

Most private servers will supply potential players with three rates:

Base experience -- the rate at which your character's first level rises (Base Level)

Job experience -- the rate your character raises the level for their class (Job Level)

Drop rate -- the rate that monsters drop items

These are expressed in terms of yx, where x is "the rate it is on official servers" and y is whatever number they feel like adding



Characters change class a total of five times in Ragnarok, beginning as a Novice. Every time a character changes class, their Job Level is reset to 1 and must be levelled up again, but their Base Level is permanent. Death removes 1% EXP but to my knowledge will stop at 0% (ask Salad for verification)

First Class: When Basic Skills is at 9, a Novice can become any of nine first classes -- Swordsman, Thief, Archer, Mage, Acolyte, Merchant, Taekwon, Gunslinger, Ninja. Those last three are known as Expanded Classes and sometimes are not counted as First Class -- GUnslinger and Ninja do not get a second class.

Second Class: A First Class may turn to Second Class at Job 40, but for the most part it's a good idea to keep levelling to Job 50 first.
Each First Class has two Second Classes, except Gunslinger and Ninja who have none:
Swordman -- Knight, Crusader
Thief -- Assassin, Rogue
Archer -- Hunter, Bard (male) / Dancer (female)
Acolyte -- Priest, Monk
Merchant -- Blacksmith, Alchemist
Taekwon -- Star Knight, Soul Linker

Rebirth: A level 99 Second Class character who is not a Taekwon, Gunslinger, or Ninja may undergo a really long quest to become a level 1/1 High Novice. This starts them over, but unlocks new benefits the second time, such as more health (HP) and mana (SP).

High First Class: Job Level 9 High Novice can become the First Class again without taking the test they had to last time. Other than their extra health, they have no new powers.

Advanced 2nd Class: This is a better version of the normal Second Class. They get more skills and can go up to Job 70 instead of Job 50.
