Yeah so Blades of Glory was sold out. Now usually we can pull a trick where we get tickets to another movie and sneak in, but this time they were guarding the door. So sadly we saw this movie instead.
Pride is the latest in the seemingly never ending line of feel good sports movies. Such as Cinderella Man, Coach Carter, Glory Road, The Greatest Game Ever Played, Gridiron Gang, Invincible, Miracle, Radio, Remember the Titans, The Rookie, Seabiscuit, We Are Marshall and countless others. I can't tell you how sick of these movies I am. They're cliché no matter how you look at them. They're bad at the start, train, win. Or sometimes lose. Ethier way they're predictable and this is no exception.
The problems start with the story. Like I said they're predictable, and on top of that who wants to see a movie about a swimming team? Raised in poverty? Okay, that seems a bit cliché. Save the closing stadium? Also a bit cliché. Stereotypical racist white kids? Yeah, cliché. Totally be headstong then lose the first round? Cliché. See where I'm going with this? And what's the deal with the pimps trafficing a kid for sex? Then beating up the pimps for peeing in your pool? Seriously, I can't make this stuff up. Then on top of that the coach getting it on with a team member's sister? Dear lord. And jesus why does everyone cry in this movie? The kids start following his orders and down come the tears. Honestly when I look back on it I can only laugh. The movie is a joke and the only thing I can say was good was the acting. While Bernie Mac wasn't the best choice, he gave a convincing preformance. Some of the camera angles were pretty neat too but it wasn't enough to save this film.
Man, this taught me a lesson.

Yeah, there are movies that have been out since January that are still playing with 3+ showings by me but this has one showing at 11:45pm.
