Kirby vs. Shy-Guy, Latest Strip: #297

Mostly paint, Jasc Animation Shop 3.0 for special effects.


I plan to use Macromedia Fireworks some, though, to create perspective-type effects.

These are some really great comics, Peardian! I love it when Yoshi's mouth gets larger than his body. Keep it up!

Abby's last pose makes her look more like a... girl.

But the box gag was funny.

Nice ones! I speacily liked #205! The part when the bros rope snaps. I litterly laughed!

All right since nobody is actually going to review it, I guess I'll give it a shot.

Kirby vs. Shy-Guy

A sprite comic staring Kirby and a baby Yoshi that goes against the Shy-Guy army in some wacky comedic way.


Pros
-Some decent custom Backgrounds.
-Nice usage of sprites and poses.
-Nice expressions.
-The plot occasionally does not focuses on Kirby and baby Yoshi all the time.
-At least you didn't used any overused fads.

Cons
-Sometimes you try to force jokes into a comic which is kind of a bad thing.

Sprites and BGs - 8.4
-All though most of the sprites are ripped from games, you really use them well in this comic. I really like how well you made that "super duper" Heavy Lobster look different during that fight scene with General Guy for the first time, awesome. I also like how well you did those expressions, with those put into right moment really makes me feel like I'm not watching some game that never changes expressions. Now about the BGs, nice use of them. I also love how you tend to make your own BGs out of scratch and I must say those BGs are nice looking.

Plot - 7.5
-At first when I read this comic I thought it was gonna be one of those "omg random humor lol lawls" but as I kept reading it, the plot got a bit more interesting. I like how the plot occasionally doesn't focus Kirby and baby Yoshi all the time. When it was focus on General it was actually developing character around him which is a good thing. At some points in your comic it kinda gets a little dull for me, but when you picked up the pace, it got interesting again. Also Paper Mario 2 battle scene is best ever.

Humor - 5.2
-Most of your humor is quite "cute", I think the only thing that I found was really funny is when Metaknight (or Meta-Guy in this case) saved Kirby and when Metaknight looked at him "wtf a he's a shy-guy". I notice sometimes you try to force jokes into your comic, "Oh look we're having a serious discussion and then OMG JOKE APPEARED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SERIOUSNESS!". Now it's okay to have jokes in your comic with the seriousness, but the thing is you need to find the appropriate time to use jokes. Now you don't do it as often right now, but it's a good thing to remind yourself to avoid doing that again.

Re-Readability - 6
-Your comic is so decent that I only got bored re-reading it about 4-6 times.

Overall - 7.5
-It's a really decent comic, it seems to get better after about 15-17 comics you make, keep it up and you'll do great.
