Yes, because heaven knows we need "RANDOM THROWAWAY CROCODILE ISLE LOCATION" vomited out another 20 kabillion times. It'd be nice nice to maybe see new mixed WITH old perhaps? Or am I just being a cynical git again...

There is new mixed in with the old, just look at the new Kremlings and and that giant Octopus/Squid/whatever thing.

...20 kabillion? There's only been two Crocodile Isles: one that sunk into the ocean and another one that was floating and mechanical.

I didn't say I didn't want it to play well you're putting words in my mouth ;( Since it's not out yet, I can't play it and see if it does play well, so I'm just HOPING it does, and loving the fact that it respects the DKC series.

I'm smart enough to tell he was exaggerating, but when you're acting like "Throwaway Crocodile Isle Locations" were everywhere yet there's only been two separate Crocodile Isles in any DK game, one that was seen again (though Crocodile Cauldron and Krem Quay Combined to form Krem Cauldron), it doesn't seem like there's much reason for complaining about too many Crocodile Isle locations that were never used again.

If he had put something like "we need to collect 20 kabillion things and rescue another 50 Kongs" on the other hand...

Dn'tcha mean DK: WiiMote and NunChuk shaking stupidly fest in the title? Why not just make it gamecube compatibable? So it can use GCUBE controllers, meaning the bongos?

The title is FALSE advertisement. Unless it refers to the JEtBarrel things.

Actually why doesn't kong just sell his invention? I'd buy it.

The game started as a GC title, much like Paper Mario, and the Wii is able to use the bongo controller. It's just not known if they've dropped the Bongo control scheme entirely or just offer it as an alternative.

As for false advertising, those Jet Barrels still look like Bongo Drums, and it looks like the racers hit them while racing, so...yeah.

And if these drums are a Kong's "invention", I'm guessing it would have been either Funky or Cranky who created 'em. Donkey doesn't seem to be the inventor of the bunch.

Glad someone else posted that so I wouldn't double post yet again.

Really like the renders, and it looks like we've now got the names of the new kremling kids (Kip and Kass).

Looks like that's possibly Chomps Jr. in one of the underwater shots too (though if it is, he looks very different).

I really don't like the direction the Donkey Kong series is taking since Rare left, all we've been getting are spin offs and ports. The only game that'd I'd consider a "main game" was gimmicky, atleast Mario is actually in platformers that don't force you to use gimmicky controls and has decent side games like the RPGs. I don't see why they just don't make a DK64/DKC sequel, I'm sick of crappy bongo games and gimmicky platformers.

DK KoS wasn't decent?

I assume by "main game" you mean DKJB, which had none of the DKC characters aside from DK himself, was very dissimilar to the past DK games in terms of gameplay, and, from what I gather, was basically created for the sake of having another game around which used the Bongo controller.

You're missing the most obvious point here that Nintendo doesn't like Rare's tramsformation of the Donkey Kong franchise. The only thing that's stopped it from becoming a cell-shaded world with eyes on trees is the fanbase, who simply want 3D DKC games like Rare made. Although things have moved back since those levels in Double Dash, the stuff is still very cartoony because Nintendo is in charge. Trust me, there's no way in hell that Nintendo are going to base everything off the Rare games they hated. It'll be a very long time until we see Kiddy Kong again.

And in terms of Bongo controllers. If Nintendo are actually going to pour out funds to create a controller based on bongos, they're going to damn make sure it was used. Unfortunately that means that since the DK franchise is the only franchise where it would work well, all the DK games used it on the GameCube. Personally I think the idea of having racing game based with Bongos is a great idea (provided the Wii actually recognises the controller and the Wii-remote option doesn't hurt (Which I somewhat doubt it will since Nintendo have standards)).

In other news has anyone noticed that Funky Kong has disappeared?

The Kongas were their own little series of sequels, Paon had nothing to do with them, and they were basicly PS2 games reskined, given different songs, and a different controller. Why should it be assumed Paon's work will be crap just because of what others did with the Bongos?

I dunno if he'll be in this game, but Funky was in both Donkey Konga 3 and King of Swing.

I don't understand where the hate for DK Jungle Beat comes from (aside from the totally disposable hatred towards any DK game without Country stuff in it). It's one of my favorite GCN games and the bongos are utilized extremely well. It's also got excellent visual and aural design, even if it uses original characters instead of recycling old ones.

It seems to be a fad to call games gimmicky if they branch out and do something different, such was the with the Wii controller for awhile. For fans such as these with distinguishing tastes and a hunger for fine gourmet cheese and a side of caviar, keep in mind the JB could be played with the GCN controller (and anyone who tried doing so realized just how much better the bongo controls were).

I also don't really see much evidence that Nintendo hates what Rare had done with DKC. Hell, they still use a bunch of characters Rare created and even let them have a crack at Diddy Kong Racing again.

Well, there's a sequel to KOS comming to the DS. We haven't heard of it for a while, though, but it might come back for E3 in a few weeks. The same had been said for New Super Mario Bros.: there was almost no information between the E3 where it debuted and the E3 where it came back.

I watched the trailer for KOS DS, and it looks as though Diddy tangs along atop Donkey's back as DK swings across pegs.
