Request to whoever's in charge of bans

It's really annoying when I suddenly get a suspension and can't find out why until it's over. When someone gets suspended, at least tell them why, 'cause not everyone knows what they did to deserve it, and sometimes it's a nasty suprise.

I mean, some people don't even know they did something wrong, even if they really are good guys.

Or you could make the "this month's bans" topic viewable to suspended people/guests. That would work too.

EDIT: Calling someone a dumbass for not knowing the obvious? That's like ten years in the cooler for littering.

This is not a place for discussion about your bans, a PM to an admin is. And I somehow doubt they really want to hear it.

Also, it isn't very obvious that HAL made them unless you pay attention to the beginning of the game. Even I wouldn't have known that off the top of my head if you asked me, and SSBM is one of my favorite games.

Just Pm mods and admins to be perma'd, but I will never do that.

Yeah, you are, because this is not public discussion material. This is private discussion material, which you put in private messages to admins.

You were banned for a very good reason. Maybe it's a bit unobservant not to know what game was made by what company, but flaming and name-calling is against the rules.

And it's an obvious rule. Should I call you out on your irony by calling you a dumbass now? Yeah, I don't think that's a good idea either. Neither was calling someone a dumbass for not knowing HAL made Smash Brothers. Get it?

Unless it says "You have been banned," you have not been banned.

Jeez. Simple. FOLLOW THE GODDAMN RULES! That's all it takes.

That's normally supposed to be the way it is (at least with guests). The reason it isn't possible at this time, of course, is because guests can't view the forums, period. It would be nice if that were changed back IMO, partly because I sometimes want to show friends certain things on these boards, but can't unless the computer they're looking at has me logged in on it.

@Spoon: not all of us are saints. Besides, sometimes I don't even know what I'm suspended for, it's really unexpected, and not being able to know why I'm banned is really aggravating.

@Joey: I made this public because A: There's no way in hell I'm the only one with this problem, and B: I didn't know who exactly to contact. Also, go ahead, call me a dumbass. I don't care what some guy I'll most likely never meet in real life thinks of me.

@Grant: Yeah, good point. Why can't guests view the forum anymore? Just when they start the monthly ban topics, they stop letting guests look around. Seems like they don't want to let banned people know why they were banned.

Irrelevant. Still belongs in PMs. Try the admin that banned you. I have a strong feeling that he, and the other admins, are "in charge of bans."

No. It's an issue of
1. Not being lazy
2. Getting that sort of thing (a message with the reason why you were banned on the "you're banned" screen) to work.

That's a good idea. But people need to keep their emails up to date so the admins send things to the right email.

Right. But if they don't keep their e-mail address up to date it's their own fault.
