Microsoft are getting all Pac-Man crazy on the 360.

First up is the Xbox360 Pac-Man World Championships, in which top-scoring players on the Live Arcade port of the original arcade game will be flown out to New York to compete in no-holds-barred ghost munching. The last-man Wakka-ing will be crowned world champion by Pac-Man creator Toru Iwatani. The finalists will be the highest scorer from each of seven different international regions... and the winner of a video contest to see who's the most hilariously obsessive Pac-Man fan.

If you think you're up to compete, grab Pacman on Xbox Live Arcade (it's 400 points, so about five bucks?) and register here.. Make us proud!

And second, the original early 80's Hanna-Barbara cartoon adaption of Pac-Man is coming to Video Marketplace. The cartoons were later adapted by Namco into a platform game called Pac-Land. Each episode will cost 160 Microsoft Points (US$2)

Oh My God! Pac-Man Tournament!

QUOTE
Who's the best Pac-Man player of all time? That would almost certainly be Billy Mitchell, who in 1999 played the world's first perfect game of Pac-Man, eating every fruit, all four ghosts with every power pellet and beating all 256 levels of the game without losing a life.
^ This guy must have no life.

There seems to be a long, comparitively proud history of marathon high score sessions. One magazine I read, Retro Gamer, actively follows this and hunts down the people who do it to learn their tricks.
