I really never notice. I only find out what format of sound file the game uses after someone says what it is. Doesn't really make a difference to me.

MIDI for the smaller file-size. If the game comes on a DVD (rather than downloading it), then modules formats would probably be better.

I probably shouldn't vote, because, um, I don't even know what a lot of those are. God, I can't believe myself.

The only ones I'm really familiar with are MIDIs and MP3s. The rest I have no idea how to get or make, though it would probably be very useful to know.

SPC's are SNES rom-ripped music formats, basically music ripped straight from the game in a raw format. There's not a lot of programs that can play them, but if you want SNES music in your game, it's the best, as it's got the official sound quality, and a low filesize.

Moduled music is music made with trackers. They use samples and soundfonts to make your music among a tracked sequence. Unfortunately, the only way they can sound really good is if the tracker manually ties each note together correctly.

OGG's are the same as MP3, just not as widely known, and they have a smaller filesize.
