Hahaha yoshiman, I'd try TGF or Gamemaker as a starter, I use gamemaker, but that involves more coding...

If you're new to games and have no idea how to make a Mario one, try out one of the pre-made engines in the main site's How-Tos section that's targeted to the game making application you're using. (This only applies if you're using Game Maker or a Clickteam product.)
