Story: King Pyroshroom and King Glacishroom have been argueing for years now, and started a war between the fire world and ice world. Since the mushroom kingdom is neutral in this war, Bowser decided to kidnap princess toadstool and bring her into the mushroom valley, a dark and deep place beyond the fire and ice worlds. It's up to Mario to traverse through these worlds and save Peach from the Mushroom Valley.

In this game, Mario will have to switch between worlds of fire and ice in thrilling puzzle/adventure esque gameplay. Once mario beats the fire world, he will have to travel to the ice world, then back to a different fire world, etc.

A carrot as a healing item? How absurd.

POWERUPS:
Carrot: Heals 35 HP [Common]
Turnip: Heals 55 HP [Medium-rare]
Beet: Heals all HP [Super rare/only found in boss fights or special levels]
Pyroblock: Emits devastating fireballs that kills anything within it's range [Rare/only found in fire worlds]
Glacioblock: Emits cold frost that kills anything within it's range [Rare/only found in ice worlds]
Shroomsun: Gives Mario the power of fire to thrash ice enemies easily [Super rare/Only found in ice worlds]
Shroommoon: Gives Mario the power of ice to thrash fire enemies easily[Super rare/Only found in fire worlds]

WORLDS:
Mahogany desert~~~FIRE (Boss: Tutanpyro)
Snowman maxima***ICE (Boss: Rodney the snowman)
Pyrocave~~~FIRE (Boss: Buzzy vulcan)
The six icecube islands***ICE (Boss: Freizer Geizer)
Molten sun crater~~~FIRE (Boss: Bombora)
Frozen moon crater***ICE (Boss: Pitty)
Mercury's hottest volcano~~~FIRE (Boss: Pyroshroom)
Pluto's coldest mountain***ICE (Boss: Glacishroom)
Mushroom Valley---NEUTRAL (Boss: Bowser)
The final boss is a secret.

Seriously, so is the story just going to affect the levels, or will there be different powerups?

I can tell you decided to use part of my engine, because of the deep "wind" sound I added to the song in the video. But that's okay. I will try your demo if I get a chance.

This looks quite interesting, though it needs a lot of polishing. For one thing, Mario could use a jumping sprite.

@Grant: I tried to make a jumping sprite, but the collsions with that didn't turn out all good.

I think the glitchy movement is just a poor quality video, but add a jumping sprite... other than that, looks good!

And for jumping collisions, actually for all collisions, USE MASKS!
