Super Mario 3D Swimmer, for Minigame Competition #25

Oh well, what can I say?
I've looked at the MGC#25's topic and thought: How about a 3D swimming game, similar to SM64? Well, I got distracted from various stuff, like school and other projects, so I didn't get around polishing or finishing the game like I wanted it.

So what you have here, is a hurried version of what was going to be Super Mario - 3D Swimmer, entry for Minigame Competition #25.
This game features mouse control and a full 3D environment.
Also works on Windows Vista.

Press F1 for the help file and press Escape to end the game.
Controls:
Mouse to rotate Camera
Left Click to do a Stroke
Mouse Wheel/Page Up/Down to change Camera Distance (You can even go EGO mode!)

I hope you enjoy it even though it is not quite as good as it could have been. =)

Pretty darn Awesome!

But controlling felt hard at times. Maybe you should increase the mouse sensitivity.

Also a full screen option would be nice.

EDIT: At my third try, I was able to collect the red coins in less than 30 seconds while scoring 3548 points.

It plays well, but the controls are really difficult, as everyone mentioned. The left click thing is fine, but it's tough to position the camera in the right spot. The actual gameplay is pretty good, though it would be nice if the level wasn't the same level as SM64.

Advice to everyone who has a hard time getting used to the controls:
It feels easier if you go to First Person mode (Mouse wheel/Page Up). At least for me, that is.


Thanks for all the positive comments, and also the criticism.
As said, I didn't have time to add options. Mouse sensitivity control was planned, and also "invert mouse". Didn't get anything of it, but well, at least some of you got used to the controls after some time.


If somebody here wants to go for a challenge: I got all the red coins within 20 seconds at my best, don't remember the score though.

You're right about the FPS thing, I found the game much easier when I changed to that mode. I also found it much more enjoyable! Now I love this game. Thanks for the tip.

It's very impressive, but immensly difficult to control with the mouse. These sorts of things are better off with the Keyboard or an analogue stick for movement and the mouse used for the camera.

Other than that, very good indeed.

I really like this idea. It's new and fresh, but it just really feels rushed, but I guess that's because of time.
The controls are very hard for me and I didn't really enjoy the idea of just collecting coins but it's interesting and new.
