I got the models from mkdd using bmdview2, i then rigged them and animated them (not too good, but getting better).
@guinea id say good coding and the awesomeness of newton dynamics. This is all without optimastions too. When i add proper level code, shadow and collision mesh stuff etc, performance will be greatly improved!
I'll add a config option when i get the chance so you guys can edit speed, animation speed, turnrates, accell etc on the character, as like someone said they need tweaking, the dash etc doesn't seem as fast as it could be.
ps one thing im really looking forward to is 3d, 2d mario games, 3d platformers are a hard game to get right whereas 2d ones are so much fun and can built with less problems ie cameras. Imagine walking onto a bridge, the camera spins round to the side and the camera locks to a 2d view thus giving a mixture and turning the 3d platformer into hybrid. Exploration in 3d and level play in a 3d/2d hybrid. It's one thing i've looked into and will be possible.
