Custom Mario Game
This title sucks, help me think of a better one!!!

This is just an engine that I made that I've been thinking of making into a game, what you have here is just a 1 room basic demo. I have also made a cool menu system, and a textbox system that I plan to incorporate into the game. But they are on another computer, so I can have those up as soon as this Friday or Saturday. Until then comment and critique my very basic engine.

Oh, credit to Carl for the character sprites, BlackSquirrel for the tiles, and Xander for the Koopas.

Remember, this is very basic, but I'll add alot more!

Its ok, you just need to fix the jumping a little bit. Then it will be awsome, and also just fix the speed of the character.

UPDATE
version 1
OK, I know this is pretty soon for an update, but what the heck!

Things Changed
- Added Luigi as a playable character
- Fixed the running problem with Mario
- Luigi now jumps higher than Mario, as it should be


If you are Mario, press L to change into Luigi, if you are Luigi, press M to change back into Mario.

Next update:
-Wario and Waluigi possible
-A few basic enemies
-HUD system

I would pay Anyone $10 if they could find an Engine that works with 3D Rage.

Seriously, why can't you just buy a better graphics card? Not all of them are expensive wink.gif

And I'd say it's fairly decent, I'd like to see enemies soon.

UPDATE
version 2
Heres another one

Things Changed
- Luigi/Mario switching is smoother
- Bigger room
- Goombas
- Lots more sounds
- Knockback when hit by goomba
- Music Note Blocks (launch you into air)

Again, I am updating constantly, so expect another one soon!

Next Update
- HUD
- Map Screen
- Multiple new power-ups (star, mushroom)

I'm working hard, comment on this update!

Please. Replace the attachment in the first post instead of attaching the file over and over again.

EDIT: Good job so far, but Mario/Luigi shouldn't always bounce left when taking hit and Goombas need dying animation.

I really like the cartoonish feel and look. Dude - keep the graphics similar to this =] As it shouldn't be too hard for you to add your own to it.

It does feel nice to play as well, all I can say is please don't make the up arrow the jump button D: Even the space bar is better than that!

I hate the M+L glitch, can't get it to fix, hard as I try... Mario needs to jump a little bit when he changes to Luigi, as Luigi is bigger, and will get stuck in the ground if he just changes.

Are you going to make it so you can change character like that on the game? It's quite a good idea, having it so you need a different character for different parts. But that Glitch'll ruin it =[

I'll fix the glitch, but I plan to keep the Luigi/Mario switching in the game, also going to add ability to switch to Wario/Waluigi once they join you later in game (still thinking of a good story that fits that) And there will be parts that can only be solved as a certain character (A rock that only wario can break, cliff that only Luigi can jump up to) So yeah, version 3 will be ready soon, programming koopas...

Well, heres my problem, I can't find any good Koopa sprites that fit in with BlackSquirrel's stuff, and I really like how my game looks with his stuff... anyone know of anything to help me out here?
