New Versus Old Games

It's as simple as that. Which do you like better. I say that you can't beat the classics.

Old games seem to age better than new games.

Everyone knows SMB3. Only some people make reference to the GBA remake.

Usually, it depends on the sprites for me

Man, I wish I still had. theoriginals. I can only play the GBA versions. The GBA SMW sprites were pretty bad (as seen in my avatar.)

It really depends. I prefer the SMAS/SMA4 version of SMB3 over the original because the graphics are better, but some remakes just screw things up really badly.

It varies a bit with me, because with games like the SMB series (perhaps with the exception of SMB2(USA)), and, to name a non-Mario game, Kirby's Adventure / Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, I prefer the originals, but with Yoshi's Island I prefer the GBA version by a small margin (it was the one I owned first, and it has extra levels that are really cool).

I probably usually like originals better, though.

Originals are mostly better.

Yoshi's Island is one exception. I liked the sounds in the remake a lot more than in the original game.

Says you. I thought the only good addition (maybe) was Yoshi's voice.

I was really stoked about Chrono Trigger Resurrection. Squenix tards.

Well the remake may solve problems the original had, like not having to start the whole damn game all over again if the power unexpectedly goes out.

I prefer the Mario SNES remakes over their original NES counterparts because of the original dodgy sprite limit stuff, palette restrictions and squeeky sounds, but in cases like the original Sonic games, ports and "remakes" can end up looking awful (aka Sonic Genesis).

In other words, completely depends on the circumstances.

Don't forget the ability to save the DAMN GAME AND NOT HAVE TO START ALL OVER AGAIN GRRRAAAAAAAGH

I play my N64 more than i play wii, gamecube, xbox.

yet i play PC games more than N64, it just seemed that there isnt enough original ideas out there anymore.

New, not remakes. If I've played it and beaten it before, chances are I've become bored of the particular game.

Half-life 2 vs Doom?

No can compare. Both are great.

Bah, i hated the camera in that game so bad, i never did get used to it

Remakes usually tend to lose the "charm" that classic games tend to have.


For example SMB3 > SMA4, the graphics were just terrible in SMA4.

I generally don't like any of the GBA ports of SNES games like Super Mario World and the All-Stars, because on GBA the sound isn't as good and the scale of the screen is smaller so you're playing a cropped version of the game.
