i had to read thru this twice, at first i thought that Samuri Goro was a playable char and not an assist

When I thought that Samurai Goro would be a playable character my heart sank. But then when I heard he was an item/summon my heart rose. Now they better not steal my idea of "characters from the same series/game giving a bonus to you."

This is the best ****ing update they've had yet.

I can't WAIT to see what other assists will be availabe

Now this makes it possible for Japan-only characters to get assists. They won't be taking up a character slot, only an "assit" slot.

If Stafy doesn't become playable he needs to be an assist.

At first I read:
"Ah, interesting, assistant characters... uhuh, uhuh, rhabarberrhabarber..."
"Oh, hammer bros. Cool."

I scroll a bit down and see Goroh.
"Goroh from F-Zero. Interesting, too."
After some seconds of silence I was like WTF! WOOOOAOH!

I read all the stuff again only to find out Goroh is only one of those assistants =(


Still, that might be awesome.
Imagine: If you have a save file of SSBM on your GCN Memory Card, you get more of those. -> Just a theory/idea though.

If they were going to do that, it wouldn't be on the US site.

I can already see characters like Geno and Fawful becoming assist trophies.

Still, the update is awesome. Opens up the door for lesser known characters to get some limelight, if only for a few seconds.

...I would love to see Bagular kicking the snot out of Pikachu should Bomberman get into Brawl by some freak accident fdddgs

I'm not so sure I like this idea. I really hoped Goro would be a playable character.

So...i guess this is the chance for really really minor characters to make an appearance in Smash Bros.

I'm just stoked about the Hammer Bros.
this also opens up many possibilities in Camera mode as well
but I think it appears that you can't choose you're trophy assist it looks random this will pose a slight problem in camera mode but all around should be cool to see...now I have one of those items that can call forth characters that is NOT a poke'ball...I am happy

That'll be as likely as being able to play as Pokémon (as in, the ones from Pokéballs).

Assist Trophies <3. I might use items in this game.

I heard that in Melee, that Ditto coming out of a pokeball would do the same thing as an Assist trophy. But, he would copy the character that sent him out, and fight alongside them.

I remember a while back counting on Goroh to be playable, but who cares, at least he's still in on the action.

And this is probably because they were made exclusive for this game, but the Assist Trophy characters seem to have more refined graphics than the Pokemon.
