Heh, I remember Sakurai saying this when he first revealed the four control modes:

Looks like he chose this time to finally start dishing out the dirt on how each of the controls work. So far, attacking works just like in Melee with the Gamecube controller, while the normal Wii Remote has some interesting methods.

Just like they do it sideways, that was my concept of D-Pad Smash Bros.
However, this method might be the worst, since it takes longer to input. Still, you have more control over "strong" and "SMASH" attacks. But that doesn't mean that this is any good either.

Also, Wiimote controls are looking just like the Cube's.

Classic Controller with the PSish button layout is not my cup of tea.

So far, I'll either control Wiimote-Nunchuck or GameCube.
Most probably I'll go back to the Cube.

Ugh waste of an update.

Personally, I thought the update was interesting. Didn't think they'd pull curtains on any sort of controls until later on.

With every amazing update comes a bad one.
But at least now we know how taps work with the sideways Wii Remote.

You can't really say it's a bad update when you all wanted it back when they revealed the 4 modes of play.

Playing with the Wii remote sideways looks annoying mind you. The rest I can live with. In fact now I'm considering just using the Wii remote/Nunchuck rather than plugging in a GC controller. Depends how they do the other moves.

Finally we get some controls.

Atleast the update had somethign we didn't know.

If they showed what buttons do we use for attacks, so there aren't any CUSTOMIZABLE controls.

Unfortunately, Mario doesn't survive having his body twist in various ways.

You have to remember that they can't just give a new character every day and all that, especially when the site is going to need a buildup of tutorials too for newcomers. Also, remember that even with 'bad' updates, you're almost always guaranteed some nice new screenshots, like twisty Mario and Link in that schnazzy pose.

You press 2 to do normal attacks and 1+2 for smashes. Strange, huh?

Its not like he's twisting his neck in a complete 360.

More like, eh... well he's twisting his neck, like if you think someone is stalking you, so you look back, but don't completely turn around

His head is twisting too far for it to be that.

mario's head is 1/3 the size of his body

i'm pretty sure he has more pressing issues

beating the cpu with anyone is not saying much at all
