Toad's Attacks:
B Down: Pull Vegetable
B Up: Jump around like mad
B Forward: Run back and forth
B: Yell at your opponent that the Princess is in another castle for instant KO.

That's like saying a Koopa Troopa is awesome and he should therefore be a character.

Regardless, they're common characters. Nothing about them stands out enough for them to be characters.

Now, if you mentioned a specific Toad, i.e. Toadette, Toadsworth, Mr. E, etc, then I'd be more inclined to agree.

Aside from the fact Toad is an attack already, he isn't nearly important enough to the Mario series IMO

He's like Yoshi, not important enough to the Mario series to get in, hence why Yoshi appeared in the Yoshi's Island series instead. Judging off of this, if Toad were to be in, he'd have to have his own series apart from the Mario series, and since Toad doesn't really have a series to call his own (and I doubt they'd pull Wario's Woods out of nowhere), I don't see him getting in. Same with all of the 'specific' Toads (Toadsworth etc)

But anything can happen I guess

Actually, I could see a more specific Toad making the cut, but as you said, they don't have a major impact on the series overall.

Eh, I actually see Yoshi as so important that he got his own symbol, not really less important.

Well, what is everyone guessing the update will be?

I'm assuming a Pokemon, item, or Assist trophy.

I don't think if they're important matters any who. Jigglypuff isn't exactly detrimental to the Pokemon series!

Doy you think Pokemon Trainer will have 3 separate Final Smashes? Or maybe they'll all combine into one?

I think Jigglypuff's inclusion in the first Smash was on account of her being popular in the Japanese market.

So Toad just needs to be popular :>

Sadly, the most Toad has ever done is in Wario's Woods, and all he did there was move around bombs and run up walls (which was awesome).


Peach pretty much makes sure he's not in as a playable character, though.

I'm just going to throw a random guess an say I hope tonight's update is another character (either a veteran or newcomer will work).
