Rumor is that if Mother 3 for the 64 was finished he would have replaced Ness in Melee.

That reminds me of something interesting involving character replacements.

Pit was originally going to be in SSB64. But he wasn't all that well known, so they kicked his toga-clad ass out the door and replaced him with Jigglypuff.

And that, my friends, is why Jigglypuff can double-jump five times; because it was originally Pit flapping his wings.

I remember Bowser being in at one point too and King Dedede was supposed to be in the 64 version as well.

King Dedede had damn well better appear because Smash Bros. needs more villains.

Supposedly SSB 64 was supposed to also include Peach.

And rumor has it that in SSBM's development process the Ice Climbers were actually Balloon Fighter.

Pit is left out because Pogeyman was more popular and stuff and not much people reminded him or knowed him so they replaced him with Jigglypuff.*

Bowser and Peach were supposed to be in it too, but they got no more time to progam them so they left those 2 out.

*God, what were they thinking!?

This stage just got three times more awesome. I wonder, though, will the platform ever take off again from that position? Like, fly to the underside or something?

I would'nt care too much if they replaced Ness with Lucas, but they shouldn't waste Ness's movesets(like they did with ike if Marth don't come back), so they could make Lucas with Ness's moveset.

But i'm curious how Ness will be in the Brawl style.

I actually hope his PK Thunder sends him farther because it's really lame how Ness only moves a short distance with it in Melee :(

Jigglypuff is actually extremely popular in Japan.

At least it was at the time.

I like all these stages but I hope they have some were your only focus is on your foe and not danger from the stage.

They should add Lucas to the cast and keep Ness. Mother 3 was successful after all.

And the resting, singing, and all that other stuff?

Oohh... foreshadowing...

I'm sure a delay would've been justified by that.

Not really because the reason was lack of space in the game cartridge.

They were all planned for SSB, but due to cartridge space and time the characters were scrapped.

-Balloon fighter
-Mach rider
-Snake
-Sigurd
-and possibly Pokemon Trainer*

were all planned for Melee.
Except due to time and game was far in development none of these characters made it playable.

*My reason behind PT is possibly because the Pokemon Squirtle was placed in with the Pokeball Pokemon and not the Cameo Pokeball trophies, but i'm doubting it.

Just curious, where is the source of all these "scrapped characters" info? I've only heard them in rumors so far.

Sigurd is Marths right hand man I think.
He was the most popular FE character at the time I think.
Thats until Ike replaced him.

The SSB stuff is from a 1999 touken for SSBM.
Sakurai said something about Peach, Bowser and the others orginally being put in SSB but the space was too small.

The Lucas and Balloon fighter were told somewhere I think.
Mach Rider has to be in the beta because his music is salvaged in Melee.

Excitebiker would be cooler.

But anyways I really think Mother/Earthbound needs more representives.

Starman from EB/M would make a cool AT though.

Just imagined Giygas and Pokey as bosses. Kick ass epic.
