I was playing PM2 on the Wii earlier today, made a quick save after buying the Timing Tutor, since I still need to work on Stylish Moves for most characters, and I went to advance through Chapter 6 after checking the lotto board. I then decided I wanted to see it again as Vivian, since it directly involves the Shadow Sirens, and reloaded, by soft reset. This time, I checked the board first, not expecting anything different to happen, but LO AND BEHOLD! There was a different set of numbers when I checked it that time! I started reloading again and again, in hopes that it would pull up my number exactly, and I would win the jackpot. (I got third prize: an Ultra Shroom, pretty frequently, though.)

What I'm curious about, to anybody who has an inner knowledge of how the game's working go, is what it does to determine the number drawn for the day. Also, if the trick to get a different set of numbers works on the GameCube as well as the Wii.

Maybe it's because it dosen't have the gamecube clock, but it let you keep drawing without it giving you a fine or anything?

Exactly. No matter how many times I let it redraw the number, I was never accused of tampering with the clock, fine or otherwise (since it would've been the first time, I would've been let off with a warning, rather than the 500-coin fine).

I have yet to try it on the GameCube, though, so I'm not sure if it's just a Wii-only type deal, or if it's just because I had yet to technically "check" for that day.
