New, 20-level demo goes here

Screenshots:

Even the first level has you using your brain. And your blocks.
user posted image
No Mario game is a good Mario game without Goomba-squishing fun. Blocks just add to the possibilities.
user posted image
And of course you'll also be digging your way to the goal. Also pipes.

There are 4 1020 levels and one two bosses. There's one coin in every level, and it adds to your coin count(Which does nothing right now) and heals you.

Controls: Left/right to move, up changes your direction for precise block-dropping, shift jumps, and control picks up/drops block. R to restart if you screw yourself over.

There are a few glitches, mainly involving block-dropping and turning around. But it isn't that big a problem. Just ignore it, and randomly mash buttons until you're not suck.

Enjoy.

Great game MegatailzChao.

The boss was easy, but that's probably a purpose.

I might be seeing things, but I somehow pulled off "pull blocks out of thin air" glitch.

Splendid game, fellah! biggrin.gif
I could only find one glitch;

If you hold on to a block and press restart, you will keep the block, adding one to the total amount of blocks supposed to be in the level. It will, however, be invisible until you put it down.

Hmm, it's pretty good. There are some problems you'll need to fix though. One would be when you are in a corner with no room to move left or right, if you keep putting blocks in the place, it will eventually trap you in, with no way out. That being because you'd have no place to put other blocks and build a stairway back up. Another thing would be how slippery his movement is, it's pretty hard to stay in the position I want, and I need to be able to throw the block at just the right place.

Regardless, this is a good game. It's interesting to see all the puzzle implemented in such a small playing area.

EDIT: Oh, the restart button I suppose covers the first problem. Heh, didn't read that part...

You are not seeing things. I thought I fixed it but it persists. I just kept it a secret hoping, nobody would notice until I could be bothered with fixing it. wink.gif

Oh and it seems easy now because those are just the first five levels. It'll get harder after the first boss, trust me. wink.gif

Thanks.

And yeah I'll get right on fixing that. Thanks for the warning.

The movement is not slippery, but rather Mario's horizontal movement is grid-based. So in other words you can't stop anywhere you want, but rather in 16 pixel intervals. Makes it more puzzle game like.

Luv this game, putting it in my favorites folder. I love the way you used the Pokemon Diamond music. Man, what I wouldn't give for an opensource engine of this. Me and my non-gml knowing brain. sad.gif

you have to jump when Mario is like 1 pixel from falling off

and this game reminds me that I need to figure out how I'm going to get blocks aligned with the grid

Why Mario can not run in this game?

Becuase not only are there no convenient buttons left for running(Control is taken), but I'm also far too lazy. Plus it isn't really neccesary.

Yeah uhh I kind of doubled the amount of levels.

And added a little something, but I don't think anyone here is COOL enough to access it.

Oh and I fixed some earlier levels, and generally made them easier.
