I'm a programmer. I must be diagnosed with a mental disorder because of it. According to this, I'd be crazy.

I love how GAMING gets attention, when there are much worse additctions that aren't diagnosed.

I don't see what the big fuss is really. I doubt anyone here would be considered a real gaming addict. Addicts are pretty far separated from enthusiasts.

I'm pretty sure it's not us that we are worried about, but the crazy people that will shut down the gaming industry in order to "stop the disease." We all know that there are people out there waiting on the perfect excuse to destroy videogaming.

I was reading the Jr. Schoolastic magazine and doing the questions because that was homework, and saw an article saying that in China, you cannot use the internet if you are under 18 because they think you may become addicted. If they suspect you of being addicted, you are sent to a boot camp for 20 days of military drills, medications, and electric shock treatment.

There's gaming addict as in "I play Mario 64 every day", and then there's gaming addict as in "Local man dies after playing WoW for 80 hours without food or water". Either way, not a disease.

SM, that's the problem. What defines a gaming enthusiast, and a gaming addict? There's no real line, sometimes I want to grind on RO for a few hours, sometimes I go a few days without playing. Yeah.

I am an addict because I have played WoW for more than four hours at one time.

That's probably what it's going to be.

For consistency's sake I hope you have the same opinion on addictive gambling.
