The Mario animations are too stiff, not enough movement in other areas of the body. The knees and the shoes should pick up more, it looks as if Mario's legs are stiff and rotated, the arm movement is too uniform mostly just on the running animation, it's going side to side a bit much, and the arm facing towards us looks placed pretty high making it look like Mario has his arm raised in an awkward position, I'd lower it a bit, the head needs to look more lively it just seems pasted on the body, maybe the hat and mustache should bounce up and down with the rhythm of the animation, The metal Mario certainly doesn't look like metallic material, looks gray scaled to me, if the Mario was metal it would have less facial features, the whole body would pretty much be the same color, and needs highlights, in the ducking position he doesn't duck low enough I think one more ducking frame should work.

That's all I've got for now I'll offer some more critique later.

I'm no spriter, so I can't give good advice. However, I like how you put a variety of actions and how you included walking down sprites and walking up sprites, they kinda rid the need of separate overworld sprites. Good work.

WOW!

It's no wonder you don't post here very often if you work on huge and awesome projects like this.

The only suggestion I have at the moment is to make it so that Mario's right arm in the running animation doesn't stick out stiffly to the side and stay slightly raised all or most of the time while he's running.

Listen to Josiah. If you improve Mario's animation, it will be much smoother and will end up a lot better. As for the sprites themselves, line-art is great as usual and the shading is pretty decent. The pallette is very vibrant too. Your work almost always looks like it could appear in an official game. Metal Mario doesn't need eyes and give him a lot more contrast, which will produce that shine.

It might be just me, but the running legs look kind of odd. Also, parts of the walking animation look off. It might be just me (and probably is just me), as I'm no spriter, but just keep that into consideration. Great job on those!
