Preliminary Staff Nomination

I might want to say this publicly:

I suggest an administrative anon warning system.

Just like Deviantart does it, if you get warned or temp-banned by them, you get a message not from the person who did it, but from a bot account saying you've been banned. That way, the people who warn are kept secret.

So say SM banned Bacteriophage for his wiki thing that drove SM over the edge. Had it said no name, maybe nobody would have ever known, and nobody would give any flack to him about it, because they wouldn't know if it was Trasher, SM, or Jak, or who have you.

Even if it isn't a totally foolproof thing, I believe it's a big step in the right direction, and I believe it's essential for future modding jobs.

Then what about that ban topic.
One should have the balls to go forth, and tell someone that he/she did wrong.

If you break the rules, you ARE punished. End of discussion.

First things first.

I don't think it'd solve too much; if members want to suspect and blame certain site staff for their bans, they'll continue to do so and may even wrongly accuse them moreso.

But this would surely slow it down, and is undoubtedly better than nothing.

Slowing it down may work, but even if so, one might be crushed beneath a slow moving wall.

I think you'd end up with a lot of questioning each time someone was banned

yeah and then someone finally gives up and then the other guy goes "wtf! why did you reveal it?!"

But wouldn't it be better to protect the people who warn?
Eventually, people just need to get over their bans, take responsibility, and not give flack.

And then that sort of bot wouldn't be needed.

But until then, this will help.

It would just make the mods untrustworthy.

The administration in general is still going to get flack (some deserved, some not) whether it's anonymous or not, that's part of the job and something that whoever the new mod is will have to deal with. I don't think anonymous warning would help all that much.

Plus most of the time it would be obvious who did the warning anyway, hmm Klobber was viewing a topic and then it got locked and the person got banned, I wonder which admin did the warning

But how would you deal with the flack issue? Anoning is the only way I can see.
