Something to enlighten the dark mood around here. Anyone remember that topic some three years ago about spacers?

Cool.

I got my braces off a long time back, but I still have retainers attached to the backs of my front teeth (top and bottom).

I never had to have braces, thankfully. Good luck with your "new" teeth.

Does it hurt?

I'm getting my braces off in August. I've had them since the end of Grade 8. So, about two years now.

Got mine off a little over a year ago, but I'll be wearing top and bottom retainers till a bit into my twenties, if I so choose to make them stay straight.

No, though wire cutting feels strange.

Yes, it hurts getting them off. The actual chipping off the brackets themselves is relatively painless but when they take a white hot drill bit to your teeth to grind away the glue, and it hits your nerves, Jesus, ow.

I dont remember a drill, but it didnt hurt when they took mine off. My teeth felt gooey for a little bit though. It wasnt glue or anything, I jurt had to get used to saliva again

I got mine off about three months ago, though I didn't get them for misaligned teeth. I had a cyst growing at the bottom of my lower right canine and they had to remove the tooth and the cyst. The braces were put there to close the gap in my teeth. They gave me a retainer to wear at night and recommended I wear it indefinitely. I'm not so sure I need it if my teeth weren't misaligned in the first place, but I wear it anyway.

Yeah, though I had them ground down a bit.

I don't remember if it hurt or not exactly (it may have a slight bit), but when I got my braces off some sort of slight accident happened, I think, that caused me to bleed a bit. I think that whatever tool the orthodontist was using to get the glue off, got my gum a little by mistake.
