How is it based on a stereotype? The Asian people in the movie weren't just any Asian people. They were pirates and people associated with pirates.

Would British people be offended if a Chinese movie depicted British pirates negatively? I'm not so sure about that.

Hmm... I guess I should have looked the article over. I didn't completely understand what the Chinese were complaining about. I thought they were just complaining about the presence of Asian pirates who were enemies to the protagonists or something.

It's still stupid, though, what they're complaining about. Why make such a big deal over something that was in all probability not meant to offend at all? The complainers should get something better to do than to whine about imagined racism.

And Sao Feng still wasn't supposed to be Chinese in the movie.

Plus, the "Welcome to Singapore" censoring bit was retarded as hell. Them looking at that part the way they did just proves that they were struggling to get some meaning out of it that proves that they were correct about the movie being racist.
