Change the name of the site?, Seriously folks

no explanation is required, changing the name would be changing the site and board to an entirely different community, and I dont like Naruto

Actually I disagree, because then all sorts of game making newbies would come and trash our site with loads of crappily made fangames for the sake of submitting crappily made fangames that probably have nothing to do with Mario or anything ever at all in general.

I think it's a legitimate notion to rename it back to Bowser Tech or something similar, mainly because the fangames section has come to accommodate a lot of other types of games... but that said, the site doesn't

Wait, what? Why would we rename the site? That's silly. Mario Fan Games Galaxy and the MFGG's forums. Simple.

It's not that there's a lot of legitimacy to the idea, but the forums more useful portions have grown in directions outside of Mario, but again; I don't know that it's really necessary, since the common bond here is indeed Nintendo's Mario

The Megaman skin is a prime example of why we should change.

The common theme is still Mario. There's more Mario topics here than any other franchise. The fact that it's not strictly enforced that Mario should be the only thing mentioned just prooves we're not dictators and like a change once in a while. It doesn't really shift the focus too much.

Keep it. We don't need any non-Mario games, there are plenty of non-Mario fangame sites. Though, I must admit, SFGHQ is pretty much dead. (Their forums aren't but they update like...every two months.)

By the way, here's what I think about the existence of the Megaman skin. I'm fine with it; I think it's OK. But I wouldn't like it at all if a bunch more completely non-Mario-related skins appeared. The Megaman skin is kind of an "exception-to-the-rule" thing in my view, much like Snake in SSBB. The fact that it's the odd one out among the other skins doesn't make the focus of the boards as a whole shift away from Mario.

Wouldn't work. When people go on mfgg.net, they expect a Mario based forum. The name should stay.

I agree with Press Start on this one. Thing is, if we change ourselves to a general fangame site/forum, then we're going to get a lot more people in the forums... And we might not want that. If this was a site for any kind of fangame, then it would be anything from Mario to Sonic to DBZ... And I think we're all tired of DBZ, at least I am anyway. Yes, we talk about a broad range of things... But we're still a Mario-based community. And if we change our name, we lose our unique community.

Go for a compromise: break these boards off into a totally different entity and make a new forum for the main site.

I think the site should stay as is. In addition to the possibility of dozens of terrible games submitted that quality control would have to go through, think about every other section of the site: sprites, sounds, how-tos...regardless of how much space it would take up it all seems like a potential workload that's much bigger than the staff would ever want aswell. Just look at how much stuff ends up in those updates now.

The forums can stay the way they are too. After all, the board doesn't have to be a forum about MFGG.

Also, even if more skins like the Mega Man one come up there's still the matter of things like the emoticons that remain constant with every single one.
