A feature to think about, Showing previous names in posts

Okay so the addition of the name change log is greatly welcome, but how about this. Now i'm not sure how the forum works or anything of if RII can code up something for it but anyway.

Would it be possible to somewhere when someone posts, have their original username? Maybe under their avatar or badges. IMO this would greatly clear up confusion people have with people and name changes.

But it would cause MORE confusion for those who don't know that person's original username.

err how? If it blatently displays it I don't see the problem.

It's possible, but I think it would just promote name changes and then people would be complaining more that they should be able to change their names whenever they want. It's still a mess on the board index or anywhere else you wouldn't have the second name.

But really all these name changes are getting stupid. I can understand if you're totally changing your character like Knuxt15 but stuff like Count Bleck or just popular/new mario characters? It's annoying. How about display it on their contact card?

Put it in profile. That way it's accessible from posts, board index, etc.

If people didn't know a certain member because of a name change, they would simply look at the name change topic.

How about organize the name change list alphabetically, cause its bound to happen that someone who doesn't know about ctrl + f would have a hard time finding who changed their names into what. Since some people haven't been around since some members changed their names, it can get confusing sometimes.

I think it's sufficient as it is, although perhaps a tiny link that opens a window with that user's name change log would be nice. A bit like with the warn log.

That name change log needs a bit of a cleanup anyway. Some of the ones up there have been changed again since.

RII Double posting? Shocking!

Any hoo, RII makes the point though, it's sorted by date, helpful or not, the dates are a big help if you know what date they changed their names, but not if you don't know what they changed their name into.

It lists their original name with the date. I've had to personally search the log numerous times to find names I didn't recognize, and usually had no problem

Sorting it alphabetically doesn't really make sense. It should stay sorted by date, so that people can check out new name changes easily.
