Holy sheet!

It's been a long time since I've done a sprite so...

Anyway Piranha Beetle. Buzzy Beetles have disguised themselves as Piranha Plants to ward off predators (and Mario).





Its leaves fall out when Mario stomps on it...


Its habitat is grassy fields and meadows and it walks along the ground. Unlike the usual buzzy beetles, Piranha Beetle cannot walk on the ceiling... Probably due to the extra weight from decorating its shell.

And now, the full sheet!


Including a version of walking without its leaves. For instance, the beetle might pop back out of its shell after a while... but the leaves are gone!

Try to make the outline colours a little darker.

That's pretty smart. Reminds me of Pikmin or something.

Hey even the creatures of the Mushroom Kingdom need some sort of defense. Imitation is a form of defense BTW.

Anyways I really like the sprite. Neat idea, and the colors look really relaxing.

Haha, that's pretty cool, I like the concept behind them.

Having all the creatures has a "reason" to do the things they do makes a game so much more believable, and generally better. That's why I like the Pikmin series.

Anyways, well done. Are you doing any more?

Nice concept. And nice sprite as well.

I like it alot, I would like to see this animated.

I thought it was a Buzzy Beetle where is you got to close a Pirahna Plant would spring up from it's back and attack you.

I say put a darker outline on. Other than that, it's great!

That's nice! I love the shading on the shell.

The skin could use some reshading/better colours, the shading on the skin doesn't look that nice. It looks more like you've outlined it with a darker shade(if infact you have maybe you should make the outline darker and add an extra shade in to shade the inside). The darkest shade of grey seems a little unneccesary to outline the spots with, you could have made them into a+a around the second darkest shade. Besides that it looks cool, the leaves look really nice as well.

There ain't much skin to shade. =/
