I just recently saw this movie having been a fan of the DOA series for a few years now (not to mention Ninja Gaiden since it's NES days) and let's just say I was not at all surprised at what I saw. From the first mention of the game being made into a movie I figured it would be completely and utterly crap, and the trailers and screens and character choices confirmed that more and more.
First off, the characters were for the most part WAY off. Hayabusa was some wussy servant to Kasumi, Helena (instead of being a French opera singer) was an American definition of a blond moment who spent all her time in a bikini, Christie went from heartless Assassin to loving thief, and the list goes on
The acting was generally bad. I found myself laughing 10 seconds into the movie at a serious part where laughing should not have been around. The storyline was cheesy as sin, and the action was pretty standard "We fight, they're winning, I pull back and win" kind of thing where you can tell right from the start who is going to beat who.
To top it off the movie basically seemed to be a "Lets get girls in bikinis, big explosions and random fighting scenes" kind of movie that rivals Charlies Angels in ridiculousness.
I honestly consider calling it the worst movie I have ever seen
Just goes to show that it seems they just can't transition games to movies well at all.
