UPDATE LIST
July 11th, 2007: Hey guys! Glad you enjoy the game! I fixed all of the known glitches except for patching it with the Vista patcher (heh I forgot again). Other than that, I added two bosses and a new enemy, Koopa! Hope you like the demo! Oh, and after you beat Bowser, nothing happens. This means the demo is over.

June 24th, 2007: This game was made with registered Game Maker 6.1, NOT WITH GAME MAKER 7. I started the project over again for the umpteenth time. Anyway, in the game you can only go to three areas so far. After you get rid of the Heavy Troopa, it goes to the Game Over screen. That means the demo is over.

First off it's a cool demo and think it can and will turn into a great game.

Try to get Mario (and whoever else will be a playable character) to be able to walk in atleast 8 directions. That will make it much easier.

Also this game reminds me of a SM64 game in ML:SS style. It's probably the music.

Other than what I said above this a an awesome demo. I'm keeping my eyes on this.

Suggestions (though you probably were planning to do this in the future):
Your title screens are always boring. They're always Mario walking through a scrolling background. Add something to it.
When hitting ? Blocks make them bounce. And also, the coins fly up too high.
Good choice of music though, I hope you actually finish this sometime, because as you already pointed out this is the 50th time you've redone this engine.
Oh and from your OLD OLD engine I liked the Zelda treasure chests and the whole kill Goombas/get coins to go to the next place idea.

This is really cool so far!

I have a question, though: Does Mario's jumping work with a gradually increasing downward acceleration (i.e., gravity) or is it just like "fixed speed up, then fixed speed down"? Because if the latter is the case, I'd suggest working with the engine to change it so that the former is the case. It would make things smoother and possibly make it easier for Mario to jump on enemies and such.
