I wonder why people dislikes Star Fox Assault so much. The game had great music and grapichs, and a high replay value in the Versus mode. I know that the way you played in the ground has terrible, but Nintendo wanted to make the fans see that the Star Fox team is not just Arwings, and, yes, the pilots, too. They're not going to die only because they don't have thier Arwings. What Nintendo wanted to tell is THAT THEY DON'T DEPENDS ON THEY ARWINGS. They're also able to use weapons, like Blasters and Snipers. I hated when Nintendo made Star Fox Command an Arwing-only game. That made look like that Fox and the others can't accomplish missions when they're without they airships! I don't know if SFC had, at least, cutscenes with the characters doing things outside the Arwings, but if not, then Nintendo screwed a fantastic theory just because gamers don't liked the way they walked outside the Arwing in SFA. If they gave Nintendo another chance, it could even look for another company that could do the ground moviments better than Namco's, and it even could did a better game with Arwings AND a good ground moviment!
Finnally,The game, itself, can have terrible controls (that's not my opinion), but the theory about the Star Fox team not to depend only on they Arwings is incredible! It's like an ficctional S.W.A.T.!
Give your opinion!

The on-foot and Landmaster controls were awful, as you have to stop in order to aim, making you vulnerable while trying to aim. Not to mention it took you like ten minutes to do a 180 spin on both. Also, rolling/dodging on-foot and on Landmasters was pointless, since you stopped after rolling, making you vulnerable and thus destroying the point of dodging. If they had kept it to where you walked/moved automatically, I think the whole thing would have been completely fixed.
There's also the lack of alternative routes, plus ten missions is pretty short compared to SF64's total of 18 (I think?)
And there's the obvious attitude problems, Falco isn't bad-ass for some reason and Slippy isn't a complete wuss, even though he still sucks in combat. Wolf wasn't bad-ass either, and Leon was just WTF. Then again, I guess the seven yera span in the story between SF64 and SFA could contribute to that, but still.
Plus the story mode missions themselves were really lacking. Nothing really jumped out and made you go "Wow!" or "Awesome!" or made you gasp in fear or surprise.
Multiplayer was fun though. Best multiplayer to a Star Fox game yet. Wolf is cheap as hell. :P
