I made a map engine similar to one in UME, except with few improvements.

Features:
- Mario can walk on curvy routes without needing to stop
- Routes actually open graphically
- And lots of more minor improvements
- Warp pipes (that also transport)*
- Transporting
- Mario graphically climbs ladders
- Cheep Cheeps, boos, clouds (decorations)*
- Castles and fortresses that blow up after you beat them*
- Support to secret routes*

Download link (Press Space Bar to enter levels and Warp Pipes. Press Enter to turn freelook mode on and off. Press shift to open routes.)

Engine is done. Report any bugs you may find.

Are you going to release this open source? This could be useful.

Routes opening graphically needs a smoother animation.
Mario needs better animation too. He shouldn't face me walking while climbing a ladder or swimming.

pretty neat. i noticed a few things though:

1. mario should change sprites depending on the direction hes going (easy to add, just have him change sprites depending on the velocity of movement).

2. stages with more than one exit should have a red icon instead of being yellow.

Very good. How about, when a "piece" of a route opens, make it fade in. I think that was in SMW.

I found a minor glitch. When you go from the forest to the fortress outside, you stop for the path to form.
This is extremely awesome, though! I can't wait for open source.

Big glitch. Press shift in the middle of a route to stop. On ladders, this can be used to walk off paths, and go on water and in the air. If I knew how to take a screenshot, I would, since I detected more glitches.

Print screen works, the paste into paint or any image editing program.
I've got to see that. I'll see what I come up with.
