QUOTE (O'Chunks @ Jun 30 2007, 01:30 PM)
There's a meaning behind "Anyone can cook". It means, don't immediately judge. If a rat is a master chef, you're not gonna take the time to see if he can cook. You're gonna chase him off.

(That's just the movie's example. A rat can't REALLY cook, but you get the idea. :P)

In other words I think of that meaning "Give everything a chance". But I think the way you said it sounds better.

I'm going to see this movie soon. nod.gif

I just saw the movie, and I have to say that Pixar outdid themselves this time. Really great movie, I'd highly recommend seeing it.

I can't give enough praise for this movie. I still say it wasn't QUITE as good as the Incredibles (not counting animation, because animation wise it was the best), but better than Finding Nemo.

The animation though... wow. It's absolutely breathtaking how good it was. Everything from the water in the sewers, to the way the mice and humans moved, to the way the mice fur looked when wet.

Just... jesus christ, I don't know how pixar constantly stays miles ahead of other animation studios, but they do. I'm sure Brad Bird being there helped plenty too.

And you could definitely tell it was a Brad Bird movie. At least when it came to the cinematography. The camera work in the movie is awesome, and they just make the amazing fast moving scenes even better. The scene where Remy is trying to escape from the kitchen is amazing. One of Pixar's best for sure.

Lifted, while good, wasn't one of Pixar's best animated shorts. It was funny, no doubt. I just expected it to be a lot funnier than it was, from all that I heard about it. It wasn't quite as good as For the Birds or Geri's Game, or One Man Band, but it WAS better than Boundin', which I felt was Pixar's weakest animated short. Also, if you notice, the model for the guy whose being abducted, is the same that's used for Linguini.

anyway yeah, I can't say enough good things about this movie.

edit: Oh and Ego. He was just a brilliant character. From the way he moved, to his voice, to his animation. I couldn't get enough scenes with him.

edit edit: and who else didn't know that Ratatouille was an actual dish until this movie?

edit3: OH, and this movie gets a lot credit for not being afraid to be a little risque with things. The fact that the chef said "Hell" and ESPECIALLY the Spoilers:
Linguini getting completely drunk thing.
Just wow. It was a great scene, and I'm very impressed that Pixar went with it instead of worrying about what parents might say.

I saw this afternoon and I loved it! Easily one of Pixar's best! Though I didn't catch many cameos from other Pixar movies. Maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention...

I remember Mosters Inc. when they went into Boo's room she just HAPPENED to have a clown fish stuffed doll and a lady cowbay and the trademark Toy Stories ball.

Let's not forget the obscure appearance of Sid's poster in of the rooms during the big scare floor scene. Since I didn't notice anything, I'd imagine that if there are any cameos in Ratatouille, they're like the poster one. It took me forever to find the Pizza Planet truck in Cars, so...

This is the best Pixar movie I've seen since Find Nemo. I'm finally happy to say that Pixar has once again blown me away. Not only with animation, but with story telling, comedy and a lesson. Pixar by far is the best studio around right now and this movie only adds to their 8-0 track record.
The animation is amazing as usual, but that's actually not the best part of this movie. The part I enjoyed the most was the comedy. This is the funniest Pixar movie I think I've ever seen and it was perfectly mixed in with a great story. While all Pixar movies seem alike in story, this is the freshest idea I've seen since Monsters Inc.
There really is nothing to dislike in this movie, and the only reason it's not perfect is that well everything just doesn't quite reach the maximum possibility. But it's very close and I recommend this movie to any movie goer of any age.

Anton Ego: In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face is that, in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new.
