It really is going to depend on price and how much you really play the games, there are a lot of benefits for the sort of high-end player; but some would argue that these improvements also exist in Diamond and Pearl. Emerald exclusives: - New Pick-Up chart, probably the best one in the games: http://www.serebii.net/emerald/pickup.shtml- The breeding fixes (Everstone adds 50% chance to pass on Mother's nature, FlameBody pokemon halve the steps needed to hatch eggs) - Battle Frontier gives you a single player reason to play the game - Abilities like Pressure now have bonus effects outside of battle: http://www.serebii.net/emerald/ability.shtml- You can rematch Gym Leaders. This is the only version of Pokemon that allows this, and they get stronger up to the 5th reiteration or something You should know though that in Diamond/Pearl, you can still benefit from the breeding and ability changes, there is an entirely new (****ty) Pick-Up chart, but yes; Emerald definitely has its merits, especially since it has a whole different set of catchable pokemon that are not convenient to get in the other GBA, GCN, or DS games.

You forgot to mention that Emerald doesn't have the ****ty R/S font.
